Doom loop was my fav mansions album for a while, but I came around. Still wouldn't call it bad tho. All three albums are some of my favs ever

Went to the show in Pittsburgh tonight. All three bands are fantastic. They fill a bill so nicely syslistically. They all jive with each other. It makes so much sense. It's a must see show. Also, Nathan played the last song off of the new album by himself with his electric guitar and it literally brought a tear to my eye. What an impactful performance of a song with some heavy lyrics.

Also, I love everything Mansions has done. DUTD is an all time favorite. It's literally a perfect record. Doom Loop is pretty good, but it doesn't come close to what DUTD did. Does that mean it's bad? No. The artist set an extremely high bar for himself with a previous album, and couldn't nearly overcome it with the follow up. If you take away the bar setting album, well, the one on it's own is pretty damn good. That being said, I do agree with @cwhit that Doom Loop has a few unforgivably weak tracks compared to the rest of Mansions' discography, but Climbers, Flowers, Two Suits and ESPECIALLY 100 Degrees are great. Ok, now I'm gonna go listen to Doom Loop because I haven't in a while. Ha.

I'd put Flowers in the bad basket personally.

i like flowers a lot, it's not one of his best tracks but that's the direction i hoped the rest of the record would be in, him messing with a lot of different effects and stuff while still being real catchy songs

Anyone catch the story narrative between all the albums

The season - wanting to move on but just not ready (don't wanna go don't wanna go)

Movement- making the commitment to move

Nobody likes a quitter- moved to Texas to try and rejuvenate career "my only regret was taking you from your friends and family" symbolizes moving on from your past and not giving up

Obviously it's not all in that narrative but pretty cool way of looking at it

I like that. I'm gonna try listening through all three tonight in a straight shot to see if I get the same vibe.

Still think my favorite lyric is the "I didn't break it; it just fell" in "Movement." I always kind of imagined that as a commentary on a strained relationship. Like "I'm not breaking your heart, not intentionally. It just fell." or whatever. Maybe I'm projecting, haha.

yea listening to all 3 in a row made me realize that this has become one of my favorite bands now, 3 really solid releases. I know that Movement is really short but its never felt incomplete to me

"Room To Talk," "Empty Nest," and "ATX" are my faves. Completely floored by them on first listen.

I think Ken (CoffeeEyes) probably follows you? You were one of those "people I may know." Then yeah I saw it on your profile and I was like "hey cool, I'll follow this guy"

I think you're spot on about it being about a strained relationship, but I think it's about him and Mel and/or Gordon and the band breaking up.

I should probably give Mansions another shot, didn't think much of Dig Up the Dead or Doom Loop
