Just wish it was more dynamic tbh. I feel like Offering To The Night showed how creative they could be and my excitement for the record was super high.

However, I rarely return to this record. I simply play Fear of Failure or Offering and that’s pretty much it.

So back in the day I loved TOCS, but quickly fell off and never really listened to much else of theirs. The anniversary tour got me hyped on them again, bought a ticket and now trying to familiarize myself with their rest of their discography before voting for the fan picked set.

All of that to say....HOLY SHIT. Define the Great Line and Lost in the Sound of Separation blew my fucking face off. How have I been sleeping on these guys for so long?? Disambiguation up next.

I'm so jealous of you getting to experience those albums for the first time. Enjoy Disambiguation, it's honestly the best UO record in my opinion. It's the full realization of the sound they had been building on up to that point.

anyone remember the Catch Myself Catching Myself contest, where they released the instrumental and lyrics and had everyone guess what the melody was?

Disambiguation was a fantastic album that unfortunately never got the credit it deserved because so many people were "no Aaron, no listen" to the point where when I saw them touring on that album, they played to maybe 20 people. They still played great but it was also so fucking depressing

I remember knowing the "singles" from this band and then Disambiguation was announced. Later that summer I did a deep dive through their discog and it blew me away. TOCS > DTGL > LITSOS is an insane run for a band, ha. That summer is tied to so many memories with those albums and the summer job I worked.

  10. Yeah there were quite a few great interpretations, one of which I realized a decade later was from The Charm The Fury's singer. It's a shame her video isn't on YouTube anymore. I remember this guy though

Revealing Illuminator one instrument at a time was also a creative way of releasing a single back then.

  11. I've probably made that post before but anyone looking for something in the realm of their DTGL -> Disambiguation run would surely like those records.

The former features Spencer's brother on drums and Tim used to be their manager iirc.

Another album that really has a similar sound to Disambiguation is "We Search, We Dig" by The Overseer

i remember Solid State was positioning them as the next Underoath when they dropped that album. don't remember much of it, but it did some cool stuff. i remember the follow-up much more, specifically the song Fragile Wings, which i fucking love to this day.

    Can confirm, Disambiguation fucking rips.

I'm really impressed with this band's discography. I've now listened to all the Spencer albums (is Changing of Times worth checking out?) and the only album I thought was a dud was Erase Me.

If I could just forget it

It's very different, but there is still some fun stuff on there. Teenage me was all about it. The single When the Sun Sleeps is pretty darn good IMO.

Confession: I've never listened to Erase Me because of all you fuckers. They fell off for me after Disambiguation and I started paying attention after Erase Me, but never heard good things.

Not sure what the general opinion was here for Erase Me, but when I started diving into their discography last week I just assumed it would've been amazing based off the streaming numbers. I think 3 of their most popular songs on Spotify are from it. But it just felt too generic to me. Like they were really aiming to get on alt rock radio stations with that one (looks like the two singles charted decently too). Voyeurist was a solid bounce back.

i surprisingly really liked Erase Me, tbh. no, it's definitely not as innovative as some of their other albums, but it felt intriguing to see them take on a more accessible sound (even if it felt a lot like the Sleepwave album, and i wish they made more music in the vein of Sunburnt and Unsound). it also came near the tail end of my religious deconstruction, so lyrically it felt like expelling my last bits of anger and depression about my upbringing before moving to a healthier place in life (unfortunately, Underoath keeps treading this lyrical ground and it's getting tiresome to see them not move on, but whatever). above all else, even if it was much different than what everyone expected, i was just glad to see them making new music again.

I remember the venue being pretty full here but it was like a 1200 cap room, maybe 500-800 people were there. Letlive opened that show and blew the roof off.

Most people liked erase me on this website. I personally didn’t at all but I remember being in the minority.

Erase Me is perfectly fine, a bunch of good stuff on it and some stuff that is not as much. I think it's worth a listen and the good outweighs the meh on it.

The Changing of Times is cool, also worth listening too.

  25. I adore Erase Me, but it definitely isn't as good as their other stuff. Still, though, "On My Teeth" and "No Frame" rule off that album.
