Haha, worked there for 6 years. Went for the first time in years a few months ago (Walmart is just cheaper), and it's like walking through a time capsule. NOTHING has changed. It's also cool how the layout seems to stay the same between stores. After all those years, my fiance was laughing at how efficient I was just knowing where everything was lol.

I had a severe porn addiction in college. I went from a 2.4 GPA my freshman year to 3.8 my senior year.

Im on vacation at Zion National Park right now and it’s absolutely gorgeous. This is my first time being anywhere out west. We flew into Phoenix, stopped at Grand Canyon, now at Zion, and then heading up to Salt Lake City for a few days. I’m really loving driving on the highways with nothing around but miles of natural beauty

Hike up to Angels Landing if you can (not sure if you need a permit now or not)

Make sure you hike the narrows a little bit. We went in like 3-3.5 miles I think. On a roadtrip where we hit 40 or so states and 15ish national parks, that was probably our #1 experience

Yeah you need a permit so won’t be doing that (honestly looked a little too scary for me anyway haha)

We were hoping to but it’s closed because of the high flow rates from the snow melt. Yesterday we did the Emerald Pools and then saw the sunset at Canyon Overlook.

Damn! That sucks. At least do the riverwalk if that's open so you can see in there.

We too were too scared to do Angel's Landing lol. We did do Emerald Pools, that was pretty cool. After our Narrows hike, we dropped off our gear at the rental place and walked immediately over to Zion Canyon Brew Pub. It was probably because we were starving from all the calories we had burned but it was the most delicious food and beer lmao. This was also pre-pandemic too so who knows what the quality is now.

I know you said you're heading up to Salt Lake, but a drive across southern Utah hitting all the parks is pretty worth it. Especially the drive from Bryce to Capitol Reef on route 12 through Escalante. Talk about driving around with nothing but miles of desert and nature around you. You drive through part of Grand Staircase Escalante that was so controversial when Obama protected it lol. Capitol Reef you can do in half a day really unless you really wanna do some long hikes or something. We did camp there but that was more timing than anything else. The only reason why we spent more time there is we did a drive into the desert on dirt roads to do the Burr Trail Switchbacks drive (google it lol). Unfortunately doesn't look as impressive or cool when you actually do it because you can't actually see all the switchbacks from the top, but still. Arches is probably too far out of your way to get to on your way to SLC, but it IS the 2nd coolest park down there if you can swing the detour. But a detour to Bryce and then Capitol Reef driving on route 12 would probably be doable and only cost you a day maybe.

I think we’re gonna go to the brew pub for dinner tonight so hopefully is still stacks up to how you remember.

Planning on two more hikes at Zion today (Middle Taylor Creek trail and Watchman trail) and then tomorrow we head up to SLC. There’s a good amount of things up there we’re interested in doing, but definitely think it could be worth a trip back here in the future to do some of those parks you mentioned, especially Bryce and Arches.
