Are you sure you’ve listened to New Romantics? Because placing it so low on your list reflects that the answer is no.

I'd have a hard time ranking this anything but last at this point. Maybe above Midnights, maybe above the debut, but I'd even have to think about those

 

19 out of over 150 isn't that low haha. Its one of my favourites for sure.

 

I think these 31 songs take her officially recorded discog to right around 240.

I knew instantly I wanted this one for 1989(TV) but I don't feel that way for any of the Tortured Poets covers

For me. I think The Black Dog is the second best song of the whole project and it also has the best cover so I'd recommend that one.

 

assuming she's not doing a pressing of The Anthology, it might be best to go with either The Black Dog or The Manuscript. The Manuscript has the standard cover and the last track overall out of the 31. if you want The Anthology cover and the first song on the second half, go with The Black Dog.

just on quality, I think The Manuscript is the best, but it's not the most fun. it's a gorgeous closer, and I think a better closer than Clara Bow, which is still a great song. The Black Dog is probably the most fun. The Bolter reminds me of a more mature Taylor Swift doing a take on the music she made when she was younger. The Albatross is great too.

Of these 4, The Black Dog is tops and it’s a precipitous drop to the other 3.

kinda late to this but yea I’d say there are only one or two songs on the core album that would’ve been worse choices for a single. It’s become a skip song for me.

 

I said it before, I think they're are two reasons it's the single. First, it's the opening track which guarantees the highest stream count. Second, it features Post, which guarantees high stream count. That's all

 

yeah i mean it makes sense business wise it just is not a song i see catching on much as a song
