It’s called watching In a Violent Nature too much!!!

 

Rewatched The Village for the first time in a long time last night and wow. Brody is laying it on thick and the dialogue is definitely Shyamalan dialogue, but otherwise, it's crazy reading how this was received at the time and realizing that it's easily in his top five now. It's so atmospheric and well-directed, filled with great performances and a great score and awesome practical "creature" design. Even the reveals feel less gimmicky and more precise and earned than some folks probably remember. Very unique and effective.

Also watched Humane, which is gonna be a lot of fun to talk about in here once it hits Shudder in July. Politically, it's a little on the nose, and the premise is a little too simple, but it's also irresistible watching a charming psychopath force a Succession-esque family to inflict Cronenbergian violence on each other. It works as a black comedy as well as a futuristic Ready or Not-style flick - best just not to think too deeply about it. Great casting, too.

 

Gonna bring a change of clothes to my showing.

Abigail is so, so dumb and I am having a blast.

 

I’ll say this until the day I die, anyone in/leaving a cult needs to watch The Village, The Matrix, The Truman Show, and Severance.

 

Yup, loved Abigail. It was a bit of a mess and the number of exposition scenes that just completely halted the momentum was hilarious but damn that was so much fun even if I couldn't see anyone but Elon whenever that guy was on screen.

Rewatched The Toxic Avenger for the first time in years and now that Shudder has 1-4, i’m gonna finally watch the sequels

 

I need to stop being stupid and just sign up for Shudder.

 

The world would be so much better if the amount of influence Bryan Fuller and Ryan Murphy have had was switched

 

Abigail was a ton of fun! A little long, but loved the gore, humor and cast. I do agree with reviews that the movie would have been enhanced if marketing/trailers didn’t give away that she is a vampire since the movie takes awhile to reveal it. It would have been a Barbarian level experience if we didn’t know that going in and they marketed it like a ransom thriller.

 

The experience would have been better but I don't think as many people would have gone to see it lol.

Fresh was really fun

 

The first time I watched From Dusk Till Dawn I had no idea there were vampires and was just going along for the ride of it being a crime movie. It ended up being one of my favorite experiences that would have been nowhere near as impactful if I had known what kind of movie it was going in.

 

Lol, my buddy and former bandmate just flew out to New Mexico to visit his sister (she's in the industry) and wound up being a featured extra in this. Texted me about shooting the shit with Tim Heidecker on set. Fun stuff
