at least it's infinitely more interesting than the original cover (which they somehow kept for CD copies)

  4. the stuff he does with that (and having perfect pitch) is pretty cool

If you are wondering what kind of unhinged shit the swifties are doing lately, someone made a list of the 645 words that Taylor used for the first time in her songs from this record, complete with clauses about which of these words were used by collaborators on her songs, and which are used with hyphens in lyric videos versus not

  7. honestly that seems like a fun digital humanities project which i’m sure someone has done on her work. there are tools out there that could do that for you

I mean I guess at worst it's a waste of time but worse things they can be doing. But also infinitely better things. Honestly I think back to my peak obsession with music as a youth and I wasn't that level but doesn't seem a huge stretch of something I'd have done. Luckily instead I just tried to make an mcr geocities type fanpage that was pretty much plagiarized from another fansite because I have no original bones in my body but thank the gawds I think it died with that wild west era of the internet

My only saving grace was the internet felt like a bigger more anonymous place back then. But I was pretty embarrassing. So glad I came up before social media took off more than it already had

Bummed to hear the cardigan quality sucks. I got one for my (Taylor obsessed) girlfriend for her birthday next week. I have it, but I haven't opened it yet.

Imagine what that sort of effort could be used for if they just applied themselves to something useful.

They’re super soft and have a pretty minimalist design (instead of the birds like some of the older ones), just a few have been wonky. I’m sure she’ll love it.

RIP to Geocities. :tear: Truly iconic.

I had a very ugly one that just a handful of my shitty drawings, but it sure felt fun knowing that I had made “a website,” lol. That and the era of “coding” MySpace pages was something else. “Graphic design” truly was “my passion,” etc.

I agree that Swifties are way too much, but this is legit just like the history of literature studies. Just instead of Shakespeare it’s Taylor, haha.

  15. Been playing around a lot with a custom tracklist that flows better and is more digestible imo than the the anthology version but uses tracks I like from both. And it's under an hour! I tried to flip between a song that seems more detached from the main narratives or metaphorical (The Manuscript, Florida!!!, Cassandra, etc.) and a few songs that are very much in the narrative (The Black Dog, But Daddy I Love Him, etc.) - and balance that with an overall narrative for the record, with the first half setting the scene and the second half struggling with moving on. There are songs I like that I couldn't fit in the flow, but I have been really loving this version. I've been cheekily calling it Poetic License.

    1. The Manuscript
    2. The Black Dog
    3. But Daddy I Love Him
    4. Florida!!!
    5. Down Bad
    6. Guilty as Sin?
    7. Cassandra
    8. So High School
    9. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
    10. I Can Do it With a Broken Heart
    11. thank you aimee
    12. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
    13. The Prophecy
    14. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
    15. Clara Bow

Maybe some day I'll make a little bonus track EP with my other favorites.

poetic license is such a better title than the real one. also can't believe she doesn't already have a song ft some variation on "I'm revoking your poetic license"

Always fascinating to see how different people edit down albums like this. The above has what are easily my least favorites off each disc ("I Can Fix Him" and "Aimee").

  20. I Can Fix Him has this smoky, sultry feeling to the instrumental that I like, plus it fit into the way I was creating the narrative flow. And aimee is a great and hilarious song if you can take out the context that it's supposedly about Kim. I think of it more like the fictional stuff on folklore. I just like listening to them both and they fit the flow! I had a suspicion people would be upset because a lot of the lyrics people are up in arms about are on my tracklist, but frankly none of them bother me except for the "little babies" line on Florida, but it's over so quickly and I love the chorus.

And like I said, songs I liked I just found no place for. She included way too many slower songs that killed the flow.

I'll take this a point of pride, at least it caused a reaction! Listen to whatever ya want, it's just fun to share the version I prefer

I like the vibe of “I Can Fix Him,” it just never goes anywhere melodically or lyrically that I really care for. It’s not a bad song, but the only one on the main album I’m still pretty lukewarm on.

“Aimee” does seem to be the most divisive song here. I’ve heard some people call it one of their favorites. For me, it’s the only genuinely bad song here, which I’ve talked about a bit in this thread. I find it tough to get past the Kim Kardashian of it all.

Totally understand not being able to get past the subject matter, I have songs like that. Aimee just kind of avoids it, maybe because I never paid much attention to the beef between them? And I get what you're saying re: I Can Fix Him, the vibe just pulls it all together for me. It's not the most exciting song but it bridges that part of the tracklist really well for me.

Ive settled on looking at this as 2 very separate albums that are both great but could stand to lose around 3 songs each

"I Can Fix Him" would be my second least favourite of the main album after "The Alchemy" but I do really like the vibe and think it's a great lead into "loml" thematically.
