Also, on top of what is mentioned here in this article, Hitchcock didn't just use live birds for that attic scene. He had them tied to her shirt to ensure they wouldn't fly away while they attacked her.

Why are men so creepy. seriously why. I just wanted to get food from my fave deli and the guy had to like look me up and down a bunch of times and say creepy stuff and then follow me out and watch me drive away. not even to go on a break cause he went back inside as soon as I left. like no. don't ruin my fave deli. not on Halloween. smh. makes me not wanna go back ever.

I fucking give up. I know the "you are old enough to know better" excuse rarely flies with topics like this/isn't relevant at all, but jesus christ, HOW does any adult male (who looks in his 50's?!) think a costume like that is a good idea? Light it on fire with him still in it, see if he thinks it's funny then!

Found this incredibly tasteless and the punchline is blatantly anti feminist, complete with feminist figures' heads exploding. I can't stand Amy Schumer and this cements her pretty close to the bottom of my comedians list (right next to Lena Dunham).

Edit: didn't realize how old this is, it's featured on Snapchat today.

amy schumer and i dont get along but i confess i'm not certain what her message here even is so it's hard for me to call it anti-feminist. would you mind explaining?

I think what really rubbed me the wrong way is the end where one of the guys says something to the effect of how because she doesn't want to be told she isn't as attractive as some other woman means she likes being objectified, to which Amy gasps like she's had a realization, which completely misses the point of what objectification even is and then apparently makes Susan B. Anthony's head explode. If that doesn't clear it up, there's really not much more explaining I can do because anti-feminism by nature doesn't make sense.

yeah it's not her most cogent skit haha. it does seem to conflate individual desire for systemic objectification. i'm not certain why it would blow feminist minds, anyhow.

it's somewhat because of Amy's trademark self-deprecation and promiscuity but i don't like the use of the word objectification or the implication that someone who's promiscuous and wants to be desired wants to be objectified.

    meta discussion about feminism incoming!

Van Badham’s defence of Clinton is preposterous

this is solely related to politics but i thought this one of the more appropriate places to discuss it as I'm trying to get a gauge for what the article in question's stances mean for feminism.

I'm not really concerned with arguing about Clinton policies - what i'm more curious about and want to get a grasp of is what we think about van badham's style of arguing. what does it represent for socialist feminism as she stands with both movements? is the author of this criticism right that she, in at least some capacity, unfairly silences criticism and wields feminism as a bludgeon? if so, how significant or common is this? how do we respond? if not, what are appropriate ways to criticise her ideas and/or behavior if one truly believes they are harmful? what distinguishes her from the lena dunham or amy schumer style of feminism? what role should men, women, poc, lgbtq, religious minorities, etc play in having a meta discourse about feminism?
