I haven't caught the finale yet, but i really hope they kept that awesome karma line from the ending of the book.

It is the Anjin's karma to remain in Japan, as it was Mariko's karma to die in the service of her lord, as it is now Toranaga's karma to carry the burden of being shogun

Fuji’s scenes choked me up, man.

Please let this get a physical release at some point.

That part where Blackthorne and Fuji are sitting and they both turn towards where Mariko would sit got me

Very impressive that this show is illiciting comparisons to GoT and people are using words like "epic" to describe it, yet they didn't have a single expensive huge set piece battle sequence . They could have, the book had a big climatic battle in it's epilogue where Kazunari has a brutal death, but this series didn't need it to show that to illicit those reactions from viewers.

Choosing to not show the epilogue was kinda brilliant ngl.

Wait how? They did the entire book except for the incredibly short epilogue about the final battle.

Just adapt more Asian Saga novels. If you want more of this universe just do Gai-Jin, it's set 260 later in the 1860's, focuses on Toranaga's descendant, and is about the ending of the era in Japanese history that started in Shogun.

Yeah I don’t like that. You used great source material for the first season what’re you going to use for the second?

I saw an interview a while back with the writers or Sanada claiming there's decades of actual history they could adapt after the book but...dumb.

    • Do Gai-Jin - directly connects to Shogun but also introduces characters and concepts that connect to all the other Asian Saga novels.
    • Then after that do Tai-Pan - which is about British merchant trade to China in the 1840's in the aftermath of the First Opium War, the early foundations of the city of Hong Kong, and the beginning of British power and wealth in east asia. Is about characters and groups that were important in Gai-Jin's plot
    • Then after that do King Rat - which about a British POW of the Japanese in Singapore during WW2. Heavily based on Clavell's own experience. Standalone from the previous novels but the protagonist shows up in the next one
    • Then finally Noble House - which is set in Hong Kong in the 1960's, is about the decline of British power and wealth in east asia. Is filled with corporate intrigue and cold war espionage. Features many characters who are descendants of the major characters in Tai-Pan. A major character from King Rat is featured.
    • Don't adapt Whirlwind
And boom you got a 5 season extended universe that spans 360 years and covers the beginning and end of european imperialism in eastern asia. Do that FX

They should do that, and they can just bring back the same actors to play different characters. FX already does that with American Horror Story.

Well besides the two Hong Kong based stories of course. Not a lot of Japanese roles in those.

Did someone already say it in here? But just have Cosmo in character as Blackthorne on an Anthony Bourdain style travel show where he’s just confused by each place he travels.

Noble House sounds dope and 60s Hong Kong is a vibe. I’m gonna be disappointed if we don’t get this. Thanks.

I create content for some of your favorite artists

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more Asian saga adaptations, and they’re just referring to it as shogun season 2

They also adapted it into a miniseries in the 1980's starring Pierce Brosnan. A rip of it is on YouTube if you want to seek it out

Although in the miniseries they updated the setting to the 80's

This was done by the guys from GoT right? So they’re just gonna make the same mistake with this series that they did with the last season of GoT?
