also: the funniest thing about the new LJS slogan to me is that they found a clever way to kind of say fuck yeah &/or shit yeah with fish yeah and I gotta admire that

PSA - If you buy frozen fish and it's vacuum sealed, DO take it out before defrosting. I always wondered why they tell you that on the package and it's botulism. Apparently that only exists / grows at a certain temperature, and with ZERO oxygen, so being sealed, it can hit that temperature range and become dangerous. Thawed in the fridge, outside the package is the safest way.

I try to buy 'fresh' but I often buy things like cod/tuna/trout that are sealed.

Can confirm. Stayed a couple days at a hurricane shelter at an elementary school a few years ago. School food looks and tastes exactly the same as it did 25 years ago.

Also I can't speak to high school food. Nobody in my high school ever got tray lunches from the cafeteria. We'd just get fries and those personal Red Baron mini pizzas, or you'd just get an Uncrustable from the vending machine.

My highschool lunch ruled so hard. I would still get it regularly if I could

I didn't step foot in the cafeteria my whole high school career. We had the snack line where you could get Domino's Pizza, Taco Snacks, chicken sandwiches, and shaker salads so I pretty much ate one of those every day.

When I was an upper classmen my school moved lunch to the end of the day after the final period, and like 80% of students just went home. The only people who stayed for lunch were the kids that now had to wait 30 more minutes for their bus to come. So stupid.

Did you go to a school where they didn't let you eat outside in the courtyard? Because that is where most kids in my high school spent lunchtime.

It actually became a big problem when kids started feeding seagulls. Protip: if you're in Florida do not under any circumstances feed the seagulls, you better be prepared for what happens after.

nope, too cold most of the year in Pittsburgh. There was like one or two picnic tables outside the cafeteria for seniors but no one ever really used them.

School cafeteria pizza ( not the branded mini pizzas, but the actual slices in tray lunch) taste so unlike any other pizza I have had in my life, but it's also strangely comforting. When I had it during the hurricane it was such a weird nostalgia trip.

Also I 100% made sure to try the strawberry milk again. Also the pouch applejuice.
