Nights and Weekends and Lasting Impressions are two of their absolute best songs. BOATS is my favorite, but it's frustrating that it could have been even better.

Also, unless my ears are deceiving me, the studio version of "Nights and Weekends" that I have is different from the YouTube link posted earlier, and (imo) significantly better-sounding... Kenny's yell-y background vocals in the first verse aren't in this one, not sure if there may be other differences too.

Never heard that version of the song! Only have ever heard the one from that YouTube video. Thank you for sharing! I think I like the shouts more in the other one, but no doubt the quality here is overall more touched up

I would fucking LOVE if they put Nights & Weekends on the new record. And yes - I've had both versions for years. I have no clue how or when I ever got ahold of it, but probably 15 years I've had both and can never figure out which one I love the best.

 

Does anyone have all The Startling b-sides and demos in high quality that could hook me up? I used to have most but I lost them somewhere over the years.

 

Listened to Direction for the first time in a while on my flight to Colombia yesterday and I think it’s a perfect album. BOATS is still my favorite but Direction fuckin rules

The Starting Line Responds to Name-Check in Taylor Swift's 'Black Dog'

“There’s been an uptick in us playing together, and a really great interpersonal dynamic between the band members recently that has been very creative and inspirational, playing together recently. So we’ve been into a creative process writing new music since last year. We’re just collecting everything and figuring out the best way to get that out there. But we’re generating music and have been for a bit of time. With us trying to get back into a more usual pace with the band, after all this time, it’s nice that we’re getting a little bit of light on us at this moment, especially given that we’re engaging more than ever since like 2007, when we kind of let our foot off the gas.”

Really all that he says about new music, but still cool. Definitely sounds like they're picking up the pace with the band a bit more without totally being full-time.

 

Looks like their Spotify monthly listeners has jumped up by 40k since Friday. Not a mind blowing increase, but still really cool to see a Taylor Swift song got a bunch of people interested in this band again. Will definitely be interested to see if it keeps climbing in the coming days/weeks.

 

Someone on a facebook group for the ringer podcast said that TSL was mid and there's no way TS would sing about them.
