So I’m at the Kublai Khan and Sunami tour, and Momentum singer just said “Philly mosh or your fucking gay.” Awkward

 

Coming from Momentum, I am not surprised.

 

they also said “you fucking retards in the pit, run in a fucking circle.”

 

I hate to break it to you but they are far from the only band saying retard these days.

I don't condone it but it's out there.

My point is, is that it is the new stage banter and pointing the finger at one band is pointless. Stop listening to hardcore then? CMI did it this weekend in reference to moshers/dancers. It was dumb but harmless.

 

Funny enough, I was expecting Suburban Scum to bring out all the slurs, etc this weekend but the only thing the vocalist said was: "I just want to talk to about Hitler for one second, he is a terrible guy" and then went right into the next song.

 

I mean it’s definitely not harmless

telling people to just stop listening to a genre instead of holding bands accountable for saying shitty stuff sure is a take

Yea I totally wasn’t saying it to start a debate about hardcore etc, just being like I’m standing there watching a band and these things come out of their mouth and I’m like “hmmm that’s an odd thing to say.” And because of the field my wife works in i unfortunately know the statistics of suicide by LGBT and trans youths. So when I hear someone use gay or whatever in a negative connotation my head just got “not a great thing to say”

I’m 39, I have been going to hardcore and metal shows since I was 13 and work in the industry in my late teens/mid 20’s I know how far we have come.

 

No worries. It is unfortunate this is happening. Hopefully the trend dies quickly.
