This album is what I expected Midnights to sound like.

I kind of wanted to have a bad attitude about this album, because I think her announcing it on the Grammys was pretty tacky. But of course it's good.

 

So weird to want to actively dislike something from an artist you enjoy lol. Most people would get roasted for that

 

I wondered what angry Taylor would sound like on the heels of Tolerate It... "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" is the answer.

Every single title I side-eyed has turned into a song I liked. There's her magic... and why titles means nothing.

 

My friends all smell like weed or little babies is a pretty funny Taylor line.

 

But also very much your 30s lol

 

How have the Swifties not posted lyrics yet?

 

Based off my wife and her 3 sisters, they are not going to listen to the leak and will listen at midnight tomorrow

 

Lol, I have been a loud and vocal supporter of hers for longer than 99 percent of the users on this website. Doesn't mean I can't go into an album with low expectations. I think it's actually healthy to NOT write off all the things an artist does that you think are tone-deaf, or irresponsible, or dumb, or downright bad, JUST because they're "an artist you enjoy." And also, "have a bad attitude about this album" does not equal "actively dislike"! All my issues with her last six months are still there, and I'm still going to talk about them, even though I like the album.

Feel free to "roast" me, though.

 

This is the album she thought she was making with Midnights. It's already been said, but damn. Every song drives the point home more.

@Garrett just told me that we're absolutely getting the 4am edition with a bunch of songs about Travis, and I can't wait to hear the new Taylor Swift fan favorite "I Just Gave a Squirrel a Piece of Bread (and It Straight Up Smashed All of It)."

 

Idk Im kinda loving this so far - just finished daddy I love him

 

This feels more like the music of hers I’d gravitate towards.

Moments feel like I’m listening to Gracie Abrams but obviously has the wordy, narrative storytelling touch the Swifties will devour and dissect for months

Who’s afraid of little old me is weird as hell and I love it for that

I’m excited to jump into this the same way I was excited to dive into folklore, which is pretty high praise. Was not expecting to come out the other side saying that

 

Yeah this is fantastic. Absolutely agree with folks who’ve said this one should’ve been titled Midnights.

 

Just like Weezer's White Album should've been the one called Pacific Daydream

 

Florida!!! is really good

 

Oh yes it just sounds like midnights/1989 bonus tracks. But I’m very much enjoying it so far.

 

The album feels like being stuck at the crossroads of reputation/folklore/midnights
