Speaking of out of Print, It boggles my mind that you can't buy/rent Romero's Dawn of The Dead in the states. I know it's some wonky guy owning the license deal but still.

(The second sight disc is sick tho)

best of luck with True Lies. i know all of the new Cameron 4K transfers are somewhat contentious (i don't mind the one for Aliens), but i know True Lies is apparently the most controversial of them all.

Yeah I'm aware that the transfer is supposed to be pretty awful, but I love True Lies and just want to own it in a modern format.

fair enough. definitely better than what's currently out there. this is one i haven't seen yet, so i should probably watch it myself. big Jamie Lee fan.

anyone have experience with MOD BD-Rs? one of my favorite shows (Evil) is ending, and while Paramount has given the first 3 seasons Blu-Ray releases and i've contemplated picking them up, all of them are supposedly burned MOD discs. i have one MOD disc that i've only watched once on my old TV/player, and didn't really know it was burned until recently, so i'm not sure what the quality would be like. curious how the video quality looks compared to pressed discs and whether anyone's had problems with the discs degrading (i know burned discs always have a shorter shelf life than pressed ones). ideally, i'd hold out for a complete series boxset with pressed disca, but given that Paramount+ cancelled the show before the upcoming final season, idk if there's even a guarantee it gets one (although a burned disc will likely happen).

Can't say I have experience with this but thanks for bringing it up! Helps with my appreciation for physical media - I didn't know there was a distinction. Or, maybe to state it more accurately, I guess I always assumed pressing was the only method used for retail, and burning only happened for more casual consumer use.

i could be wrong, but i assume the logic is that some companies figure they can offset mass production costs by burning on demand - gives the consumer "physical" media without having to make a ton of copies.

That does make sense, and it's unfortunate if corners are cut that way (I'm sure they are). Now I'm curious what might be pressed rather than burned in my library...

the way to tell is to check the color of the underside of your discs. if it's darker with visible burn space, it's burned. most MOD discs like that also aren't allowed to use the official Blu-Ray logo on their jacket either, and might just write out the words "Blu-Ray disc".

yep, that's basically it. Let's say a minimum run of a DVD is 5000 units but you can only sell 500, then MOD is your answer

The last like 6 seasons of It’s Always Sunny DVDs are MOD

i figured this was the case. still disappointing to see if the longevity of these discs is subpar to a pressed disc.

While true, you also need to realize in many cases it's MOD or nothing at all, ever...

i'm aware that that's usually the case, and i'll likely pick these discs up still. just a bit upsetting.

my question still stands. from everyone else's experience, any noticeable drops in audio/visual quality with MOD discs?

Other than the discs being DVDs rather than Blu-Rays, I’ve never had any issue with MOD.

I know Snake Eyes is considered mid-tier De Palma but, I love it and think it's gonna look sick in 4K

reliving a tiny part of my childhood thanks to Target's buy 2 get 1 free sale on movies (the other two are my preorders for Andor and Obi-Wan). since this is a Shout release, i feel somewhat obligated to indirectly thank @irthesteve, haha.

Got a couple of codes up for grabs: Whiplash and the first John Wick! I believe these are still valid but obviously can't test that for sure.
