it wasn't exactly a criticism of variants, but a criticism of incentivizing people to buy more than one variant to boost sales, all paired with non-sustainable manufacturing practices (which she attempts to combat by using recycled PVC and packaging).

  5. Ew, that yellow? A lot of my variants are from Target, but sometimes they don't have the best one haha

Posted on my insta but it's private haha.

"Green Day "Dookie" turned 30 months back. An album that forever changed my life. One of two albums that got me into music in general.

The other being The Offspring "Smash". Today Smash turns 30.

A celebratory spin for an album that still sounds as fresh today than it did when I bought the cassette when I was in Grade 6. I still remember being 12 and buying this tape at Sunrise Records. My pops asked what this tape I bought was and insisted I put it on in the car... "Bad Habit" came on and I was like

Happy birthday Smash you magnificent fucking album you!"

this is cool! The high cost of VHS was what caused the rise of the rental industry

Yep not everything was available for retail purchase. I remember everyone wanted Pulp Fiction BAD and it was order only for $99.95 at Blockbuster. They didn’t issue a retail sale copy for a while until demand forced the studios’ hand. Media consumption was so different then.

Years later I worked at a Blockbuster, and if a customer lost or damaged an old, hard to find vhs copy of something, the computer would charge them 99.95. The managers would usually override that to a “used price.” It was nuts.

I remember Blockbuster used to run a video game tournament. I miss that store. Going there to rent some obscure horror movies was always a good time.

When I started there, it was all VHS still. Seeing the DVD evolution was cool, but seeing their eventual struggle with mail order Netflix was so painful. It went from a cool job where you’d make connections with people and recommend cool stuff, to a very sales driven environment when they were pushing their movie pass thing. That’s about when I graduated college and left for a real job. I miss video stores greatly. Perusing the box art is so different than images on streaming. Some of my favorite movie experiences were recommendations from coworkers or customers that I knew nothing about or wouldn’t have ever picked or even considered. The algorithms as we have it today will never recreate that.

Yeah they did it for Donkey Kong Country. I dominated the entire tournament until one of my best friends beat me and won... I was none too pleased. Haha.

Got the Hellogoodbye record a few weeks ago at full price like a sucker (but I had a coupon and won’t need to buy anything this round so I guess I still win)
