I am also in path of totality and…not into it at all?

 

Oh yea, it’ll be cloudy here, so we shall see if I can see it at all.

 

It’s easy to lose the hype when you have to explain why it’s so cool to a 4 year old and she just doesn’t care because in her words it gets dark every day

 

I’m just glad I got the day off work tbh

 

We were going to pull our kids out of school a little early to watch it, but last week the school was able to secure eclipse glasses for all the students and staff so they're all going to be able check it out.

We only have abut 82% here, but it's nice and clear and sunny today so should still be cool.

 

Also the whole rapture thing is a Righteous Gemstones episode

 

It's good you're teaching her about it now though, because this is what happens when you don't know what an eclipse is:

 

I saw the one in 2017. Portland was just out of the path of totality but it was still one of the most incredible things I've ever experienced. The entire city just ... got quiet. No birds, no traffic, no wind. It felt like it got 10 degrees cooler instantly. Even my coworkers who were acting too cool for it shut up for a few minutes. I still get misty eyed talking about it.

at my kids' school they were originally just telling them all not to look at it when they were on the bus, but then a few days later they sent out emails saying they got glasses for all of the kids haha

 

I'm in the path for about 4 minutes 6 seconds of totality today. Sunny at the moment. Been owning the libs all morning by looking at the sun through binoculars without protective glasses.

 

A small box of Wheat Thins was "on sale" for $4.99 yesterday at the grocery store.
