For context, he said this quote referring to the inclusion of a guest vocalist on "How to Ruin Everything (Patience)" with Ice Nine Kills.

I really want to love the closer but it seems to not flow well? I have only listened once so maybe that’ll change but it felt…off?

Album rocks. I've listened to all the EPs but only a handful of times each at most, so it feels pretty fresh to me.

Might just be because they were the EP closers, but Just Like Home or Bad Intentions could have easily done a better job as the closer. The sequencing in general feels kind of off to me, but again, could just be that I got used to the EPs.

im surprised to see some people not digging the devils. easily the best bayside song since killing time, besides "mary." and im a sirens/self titled truther through and through. excited to dig into the rest of this.

i say "sirens and self titled truther" yet the walking wounded and shudder could wind up at the top of my list on any given day. i like killing time and vacancy a good amount too. interrobang and cult are the only ones im not in love with.

i would love to know the decision making process behind keeping most of those tracks on the album. was it a disjointed process where they just recorded a bunch of songs and repackaged it as an album after they had enough? or was it always going to be an album but it was a marketing thing to build buzz around the EPs first before the album? i dont really get it but since i didnt listen to the EPs or singles all that much outside of the devils its mostly a fresh listen to me.

I do wonder if the consistent buzz from EPs is worth the trade off of what feels like almost no hype on release date

well i also wonder how many people missed the EPs or hardly listened as a good few of us in this thread said and if the EP numbers influenced their decision to include all those tracks on the album

That’s a good point, once they announced that all the EPs would be collected onto an album, I stopped listening to them. Which is probably not what they wanted haha.

Really feels like a catch 22

yeah i feel like something was miscalculated somewhere because its just a weird thing to do. two EPs and an album with pretty much all of those tracks? and still releasing other songs as singles? i dont get it

  16. I honestly had fallen off this band, Killing Time being the only record I return to but this is the one. This album rules start to finish.

Based on the early results, it seems decently successful. I know Spotify Streams aren't the best metric, but some quick numbers of average # of streams per song:

    Cult: 1.07 million

Vacancy (Excluding the acoustic bonus songs, which would drag the average down a ton): 2.2 m

    Interrobang: 1.7 m

    Red: 1.2 m

    Blue: 2.1 m

    Red+Blue: 1.5 m

These are rough numbers, but considering the EPs have been out for less time (the last batch of songs are too new to really have a relevant amount of streams), it seems like the strategy may have had a slight positive impact on streams. The first two EPs have already outpaced Cult despite being out for ~6 fewer years. Vacancy is also bolstered by I've Been Dead All Day, which has 11.6 million on its own, if you take that out it drops to 1.34 million.

Notably, Interrobang is doing well streaming wise as well, when it had basically 0 album roll out.

Killing Time is at 3.4 million, but that's been out for 13 years, so it's not really a fair comparison.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

They can obviously do whatever they want to keep being a band for as long as possible, but I'd be shocked if any fans preferred this rollout to the one for Interrobang.

This album is really good all together. I would be much more about it if I hadn’t heard 75% of the album over the last two years though. That new/excitement factor is running pretty low. So that’s a bummer.

The album art is pretty rad too.

I’m really digging this much more than the last two albums. The rollout was weird, but this is a collection of classic Bayside songs. It’ll probably end up being my favorite since Killing Time.

Very excited to see this tour. I used to catch Bayside every time they came to town but stopped seeing them due to stagnant set lists causing me to get burnt out. They are one of my favorite bands, but I don’t bored of the live show because they don’t play a lot of deep cuts. I’ve seen them 15+ times but this will be the first time since 2017. Looking forward to hearing these new songs live and even the older songs they always play won’t be so stale.
