Pretty sure a new record is coming. Nate, Alex, and Randy have been demoing together ever since late 2019.

It’s been on and off for obvious reasons but I’m pretty confident that they have a full length’s worth of material by now that they’re happy with.

It'd be wild if they ever officially released the other two albums they made and never finished.

Seems so strange to me when bands tease stuff for 5 years. Like I imagine it just doesn't feel fresh then.

Or, do you eventually forget about it so when they do it again, it circles back around to being fresh?

Pretty sure we’ve talked about this before in this thread but I would easily throw $200 towards a kickstarter if they did one to make this happen.

They’re probably over a majority of those songs by now and/or wanting to just focus on new material that’s exciting to them. Can’t blame em’

Two new songs? I am SO pumped. Thanks for recording even one of them. It's sounding great.

Found another live video of their whole set you all might be interested in. The new songs have tentative titles of "Rainy Day" and "Horror Island". I am rather surprised with how aggressive these songs are. I figured if anything, the band would steer a little further back into their WIITB sound but that definitely remains to be seen. For the record, I think these two new songs sound absolutely incredible - and I can only hope they'll include an unreleased, more melodic song like "Monuments" in the tracklist too just to even things out a bit.

  9. Horror Island is really promising as well. Surprised at the heaviness showcased.

I’m not really surprised tbh. If I’m not mistaken, the reason for the last break up was due to creative differences between Nate and other members.

Some were down with getting co-writers, at the request of their label, to write songs like “Monuments” and “Bridges Are Burning” but Nate didn’t wanna go down that road/sound. Phantasma is proof of just that.

I thought Monuments and Bridges were kind of meh and forgettable so I’m in Finch heaven with what I’m hearing is the new direction :)

Yeah, it definitely seems like concessions were made to steer the ship in Nate's preferred direction based on these two songs (this is pure speculation). Not that I am complaining at all. I am ready and willing to support any new project from these guys!

I think the songs on Back To Oblivion are really good, but I don't listen to the album very often. Unfortunately, the production sounds totally thin and weak. You can hear that they didn't take much time in the studio to make it sound PARTICULARLY good.

I hope they take more time for the new songs. But I'm totally blown away that they're not just playing WIITB at the current shows, but also a lot of SHTS songs.

I’ve always said that Oblivion would have been a perfect EP whereas Phantasma had a huge amount of potential to be a stellar proper follow up to Sunshine IMO.

Both Phantasma and these two new songs sound like a more accessible Sunshine sound to me. I can dig that.

this is actually what i came on to say today, except that i wish i'd heard it sooner and could rave about it when it actually might have made a difference. I mean, i've still only listened about a half dozen times now, but i loved it when I first heard it, and i'm just loving it more and more. Wondering still what some of the lyrics are. lol

see, i'm not sure i agree with this. i mean, i like it better than SHTS, but that could just be my preference. Not saying I hate SHTS, but I also don't fully understand why so many folks here think it's sooo great. ha idk!

alone in what? idk about greater, but i like BTO more
    but weak songs? I really like The Great Divide and probably those others too. Yeah, I think Tarot might have been one. Stand outs today (that i recall) include;
    Play Dead,
Further From the Few (i mean i like it's upbeat),
    The Great Divide,
    Inferium and maybe also
New Wave (i mean the end of the album is great!)

actually, Picasso Trigger might have been a "weak" one for me, or was it Murder Me? one of those sounded just like the track before it.

Ooo catching up on these new ones today! I mean, so far digging Rainy Day. Like others, I'm just excited for new music, and I doubt i would ever hate anything from Finch. they are all amazing musicians, with something to love or appreciate with whatever they do... unless they go full rap or country or something lol

At the show in Seattle tonight. I am super excited to check seeing these guys off my bucket list and I am feeling really fortunate for the opportunity.

Hopefully this is a precursor to official new music this year!

Alright, I don’t say this lightly but Finch is one of the best bands I’ve seen live. No hyperbole. They’re tight as a unit, Randy’s backing vocals and screams are impeccable, and Nate’s vocals honestly might be the best in the game. His singing? On par with studio. His screaming? Arguably even better. I was simply blown away. Don’t miss them if you get a chance.

I understand the hierarchy of this tour - but Finch should be headlining their own tour soon. Their future is as bright as they want it to be in my opinion.

I love the enthusiasm but Baysides been active constantly and has a bigger fan base, deservedly so. Saying that, yea Finch sounded ungodly tight. Hope they could channel actual relevant music for another release that merges SHTS and WIITB.

I am ecstatic to hear they are killing it live but also depressed that I won't be able to catch them any time soon.

i don't think that will ever happen with their history and in band fighting , they just caught lightening in a bottle with WIITB. i love all their albums but thats the way its been going for forever with these guys.
