I was honestly gonna try Ronin before DD2 but the second I heard of Dragonsplague I moved DD2 up on the priority list hahaha, it's such a fun idea

 

Barely into 5-6 games so they better milk you while they can, is that the moral of this story?

 

I only buy games on release that I REALLY have been looking forward to for a long time. Rebirth was the most recent. Will probably get dragons dogma in the next couple weeks here after I clear out some of my backlog. But for the rest of the year I doubt I’ll buy much full price unless dreadwolf drops. There’s so many sales all the time on digital store fronts and the local stores have good used inventory for the systems I buy physical for and the number of old games I still want to play that I’ve never played before is huge and I’m discovering more every day. I wind up spending a ton of money on games every year but it’s mostly old games that I want to build my collection with, I’ve had games sitting on my shelf or in my library I’ve owned for years without actually playing them. But I’ve said before and I want my gaming ecosystem to be like stepping into a personally curated library or something with ease of access to tons of different games at any time.

Or it's that $60 is a fair trade off for 15 hours of entertainment each pop but I can understand it being too high for those that buy more games. But wanting to consume more than you can afford to, isn't necessarily the fault of the game studios. I want to go on vacation more times than I can afford to, but that's not because vacations are too expensive (well, some aspects are).

I don't know, everyone's going to have their own feelings. For the games I look forward to, and ultimately end up enjoying, I feel I have purchased them for a fair value. But I'm also very particular and curated about the games I go after. I don't preorder, and I rarely dive in without understanding if the game is going to hit the mark for me.

 

I think 60 is fine. I am not mad about 60.

70 USD (which by the way is 79.99 EUR) is a fucking joke tho imo

stop asking me or 70 bucks if you're just going to lay off people anyway no matter how much money you make, sick fucks.

The ultimate raid for Dawntrail is gonna be so cool, the era it's based on is when I raided the most so I MIGHT try to get back into raiding for it?

Ok well the only reason lol is THE MUSIC. As far as story? ShB. But HW music is so phenomenal it raises its tier imo. Ishgard day/night themes, whew. To this day I'll still go there to queue up roulette and idle just to listen to the themes.

 

HW music is great yeah, and I love Ishgard as a whole

ShB has better story and had better gameplay than HW altogether, only thing HW may have on ShB for me is the alliance raid

 

As an aside (sorry to double post) Zenith (I think it's called) was my idle location, in Churning Mists, where it plays the piano version of Dragonsong. Now it's Amaurot or my house in Mist

I could talk about FFXIV all day every day

 

HW has dragons and Estinien. And the music. And oh yeah, dragons. Heh.

ShB has Emet Selch, by far my most favorite (besides Estinien) character in the entire franchise. ShB also has Nier. ShB also has FF8 stuff.

So yeah ON PAPER, I should like ShB more because it's for more for it, but good god, the HW music really does it for me. Like if I had to rank them it'd be like HW is a 10 and ShB is a 9.9. They're basically tied.

 

I started liking Estinien a lot more in ShB/EW. I kinda hated him in HW haha, he fell into a trope I really do not like. I loved Aymeric and Haurchefant and Ysayle though, and thought Alphinaud's growth was insanely good

 

Amaurot is reallyyyyy good music. And the zone was one of my favorites in that expac.
I really need to do post-EW. But I'm trying to finish Rebirth and then in a couple weeks I'm moving, so I plan on getting back to that most likely in May? But definitely before DT lol.

 

Oh Ysayle. She totally ghosted from my mind haha. Add her to my list of pros! My apartment is shiva themed, my chocobo use to have the barding, I rode the mount everywhere and favorited it, such a great character.

 

I've prob said it before but it's also very different playing the expansions at the time of release vs going through the story later. With Heavensward every raid was busted beyond belief and if you played Paladin you might as well uninstall the game and find something else to do because it was so poorly tuned you couldn't join groups in Party Finder and had a good chance of getting kicked from Duty Finder. And there were so few things to do on release including on patch days

There was also a bug in Dravanian Hinterlands where one of the bees was accidentally duplicated at least 40 times over so as soon as you entered the Hinterlands you were murdered by bees

It was BUSTED

 

Shiva was my favorite ARR trial probably (and my favorite SHB raid)

 

DT will be my first expac to be played on release. I've heard the horror stories! Esp StB and the lines and then the EW queues..... I'm ready! (Or will be)

Eden Shiva l....had the biggest grin on my face that entire raid. The music was PERFECT.

 

I wish I was more interested in raiding more hardcore in XIV. Years of progression raiding in WoW 4-5 days a week when new tiers dropped sucked the fucking life out of me.
