Started playing Pacific Drive, what a cool world so far.

 

I’ve come across a few tents as drops already. I don’t think they are expensive but they are heavy. If you want to pass time without camping or spending money at an inn what I did was I went to a tavern in a town and it had the option of ‘pass the time’ which let me switch to daytime for free.

Supposedly DD2 has a lot of microtransactions. Even so far as to having to pay to fast travel. Interesting for a single player game.

 

Capcom has a free pass for their microtransactions and no one talks about it

That's not correct. Yes there's MTX but it's the same exact stuff that was present in the first game. Even less, as the first game had weapon packs and this doesn't. Also, you're not paying for fast travel. You're paying for an item that allows you to place a teleport LOCATION on the map. You can't teleport to it without the item you get normally in game though. And you're only allowed 10 of these stones, and buying it doesn't do anything except let you get one early, it's not like you now get to have 11. And you can only buy it one time. Capcom does this in all their games, Resident Evil and MonHun too.

 

Lol stupid Jez Corden couldn't read his review pack, skipped over the DLC notes and posts a clickbait article and now has the Internet regurgitating false info. Gotta love it.

 

PC Gamer wrote the below article about it, but basically it's all stuff you can find in the actual game, most without too much trouble.

As someone who has owned and played many games that allow players to buy in-game items directly if they so desire, I'm kind of not all that bothered by this.

That's not to say I approve of the practice as this is very much capitalism at its "finest", but I feel like if ignoring the microtransactions doesn't fundamentally change what players have access to do, then it's just not that big a deal.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 microtransactions are real and bafflingly silly, since nearly all of them can be found in the game without too much trouble

Haven't played the game yet so I don't know if it is or not, but I do believe there's a difference between games that spike difficulty intentionally to promote purchasing and games where it's perfectly possible and reasonable to finish without spending a single penny. Time will tell which this is, I suppose.

 

Pay4cheats.

I know it's semantics and all, but p2w usually infers that you're paying to get an edge over an opponent, usually in multiplayer games. You're paying for an advantage to be better than someone.

DD2 has no competitive multiplayer. You're not "winning" anything. You are however paying for an easier/faster time to obtain something than you normally would in game. Like if you're a dad of a newborn child and a busy job so you only get a limited time to play. Maybe you don't want to kill enemies or open chests to obtain the currency needed to buy stuff in-game. And you have no problem spending a couple real bucks to get the item ASAP.

Sometimes I miss the days of GameShark and GameGenie and inputting buttons to access cheats. Now they cost money.

I'm currently playing, and there's zero reason why anyone should feel the need to get these other than wanting to make the game have easier QoL. It has zero impact on the game. Zero.

It's basically the stuff that was in the Deluxe Edition. Consumables. ALL stuff you get a couple hours into the game normally. Basically you're paying to get it sooner.
