Would you believe that my internal pitch for these books is “cozy fantasy about a gardener”? lol.

You rule dude. Thanks for reading!

Not a crazy amount for Leafdust. I incorporated most of your suggestions, tightened things up, and added more character/location details. But mostly the same.

Tangleweed might change more than that - I can let you know if it’s worth a reread on your end once it’s done.

Thanks so much dude! That means a lot. Especially the offer to spread the world - you’re better connected to that world than most people I know, so that’s really cool and helpful. Anything you can do to share them around is incredibly appreciated, and I’ll let you know if I can think of anything else.

Reading the Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett. Founders trilogy fell off in book three for me but it was a great series and I can already see that this is making strides. I just hope Bennett keeps it less complicated.

His Divine Cities trilogies is one of my all time favorites and I had no idea about this one at all. I'll have to pick it up as soon as possible.

That makes two copies out in the wild haha. As far as I know, that's literally copy #2 printed. So hang on to that like diamonds.

Mine's supposed to arrive tomorrow lol.

A friend of mine received his copy yesterday morning. He lives in Indiana. Apparently right on top of a KDP printing studio or something, because otherwise I don't know how that happened.

You’re very welcome! It can be a massive undertaking and a bit infodump-y at times but in my opinion it rewards you. Glad you had a good time!

Yeah, I liked the character introductions, and then the next like ~250 pages were kind of a slog in terms of plot. Then things really picked up.

But the vibes throughout were spot on. Super evocative.

Also good lord this book needs an editor. Flagrantly bad punctuation and grammar, particularly in literally everything the Elders say. Some of the non-native writing style added to the final product, but still haha

Yeah i don't disagree with any of that at all. Enjoyably deep but also insanely flawed. I'm sure there's an editor now that the book has traction, it's getting a TBB special edition, but you're totally right!

I just finished The Grace of Kings and I came to ask this same question about the rest of the series.

I think I enjoyed the first book well enough, and I read it extremely fast, but when I started reading it I thought the beginning of the book was the author kinda trying to get the reader up to speed with a kinda quick summary of events, but then the entire book went by and it was all written in this same style.

First book is definitely more info dumpy. From my understanding it becomes a cohesive narrative moving forward.

Well, I just finished Leafdust & Deadwood and it was absolutely marvelous. A beautiful introduction to these characters, and such an intriguing taste of this world.

I cannot wait to get my hands on Tangleweed & Waterbloom.

Dude this is so lovely to hear. So kind of you to review and share it, especially given the following you have. I truly appreciate it.

Mostly I'm just glad you liked it! It is incredibly gratifying to write something that seems to resonate in a small way with people whose opinions I value.
