This is an awesome album and I’m surprised it’s seeming divisive, I don’t even think it’s that slow

Loved this on my first listen! Can’t wait to listen again tonight on a gummy and really dive in.

So for all Bleachers albums before this I'd find maybe 2 or 3 songs that I enjoy, but never could get into a full album.

This album, though. This fucking rules. I see this being on constant rotation for me.

same. think it helps that I’ve only listened via good headphones too. I don’t see me pumping this on speakers or getting it on vinyl.

What’s your favorite? Imo, they all have 4-6 really good songs and otherwise are pretty take it or leave it for me. This is the first time he’s put together something that I really dig all the way through.

Gone Now is the peak for me now, the way the whole thing is intertwined musically and lyrically with so many callbacks within the album. The production is so unique and clever, I still find new details every time I listen. Most importantly though, the songs are fucking great, absolute master craft in composing great songs and respecting the craft of a whole album as art

Strange Desire does all the same things I mentioned too, but I think he prefected it with Gone Now, truly feels like something only he could make

Also I don't dislike this album at all, just to be clear

I liked this a lot more today. I still think there's something a little off about the sequencing but I can't place what it is. In any case, it makes me very happy to see people getting into or back into Bleachers with this!

See, Gone Now is pretty handily my least favorite of the four. A lot of what you said is true, but I disagree with one point, and that's that I think most of the songs on there are actually just OK. For me, it's 3-4 outstanding highlights and then a lot of songs that don't really earn their callbacks/reprises. And all the best songs, for me, are clustered in the front half, so I don't ever feel like the intertwined nature of the album builds to anything particularly satisfying.

Fair enough as well! I appreciate how we often like so many of the same artists but gravitate to them for different reasons

This album is fantastic, but Self Respect is the ONE.

He's never once missed for me. He's just the best producer on the planet. Every time he puts something out you know you're going to hear a guitar sound or a mix or a combination of effects that you've never heard before and it's thrilling as fuck.

the “jack antonoff is a bad producer” take was going around on twitter the other day and I had to point out he has done such stellar work with artists like Lana and the 1975 you’ve gotta start considering at some point certain artists are just coming to him with weak material

Lorde. The Dixie Chicks. Clairo. Taylor Swift. Florence + the Machine. St. Vincent.

You could try and say any of those don't sound great, but you'd be showing your whole ass.

I don’t think the lorde or Clairo records sound all that great but that’s because I don’t like the songs, the production is fine

This is the best Bleachers and it’s not even really close. Every song on here earned its place.

You are making a good point overall, but Olivia hasn't worked with him, also it's The Chicks now ;-)
