It really is. It used to be a dance club before it was a music venue (which is obvious by the multi-levels and the bathrooms that are dimly lit so people can't see the drugs they're snorting). It's capacity is 3000 yet, I'd wager, only 1800 of those can actually properly see the stage. Whenever I go up a few songs early to get my coat, there are people legit standing 2-3 back in the balconies who can't see anything. Absurd place.

Is that a clue that phoebe will secretly open for them?

The article fails to mention that in a significant number of scenarios... There's no distinction between the "venue" and LiveNation because they own it. So the money all goes to the same place.

    Please explain to the class.

Operator and venue owner are two different entities. You're correct that, in some cases, Live Nation does own the actual venue (amphitheaters, House Of Blues) whereas in others, they may be the operator which books the venue but not the owner. Either way, I believe (and someone in the business can correct me if I'm wrong) every show has some sort of venue fee as a rental for the event which, likely, goes to pay staff, renovations, maintenance, etc. I am 99% sure Live Nation doesn't own most arenas, stadiums so in those cases, the fee goes to the venue owner.

I’m old….I remember going to an annouced like three days before record release show at the chameleon in Lancaster for Catalyst. The show was as bonkers as it sounds.

Hope it comes somewhere close to me. I’ve literally missed every OC NFG show since I’ve moved here. Haven’t seen them since the 20-year tour in 2017

They're usually pretty good about coming to the OC so I wouldn't worry about it.

...And those venue fees make sense. Staff's gotta get paid, there's overhead, and so on. Not challenging that. But the entire piece hinges on distinguishing Live Nation, as an entity, from the venues and promoters and explaining that the venues set the fees, etc. So acknowledging that Live Nation owns quite a few venues in the 1k+ category in major cities really should be explained if the goal of the article is to explain how the pricing works (because LN ownership is 100% going to impact fees in some way, shape, or form).

Leaving that out really just makes the whole thing seem like weird, ineffective propaganda.

All my homies hate Live Nation. They fucked over talent buyers and indie venues with their exclusivity contracts. The homies don't blame the bands either.

So glad this is coming to the amphitheater I have unlimited pit access to. Not sure I’d have enough room to dance the night away in regular seats
