Me and my buddy were just talking about that. The variants and pressing numbers are wild.

I grabbed the 600/ glitter as they posted it up 4 minutes early.

Snagged one and the hat. I could never variant collect, my wife tolerates this hobby but to get 7,8,9 versions of an album is a hypothetical scenario I don’t even want to imagine.

I grabbed that second Pure Noise variant (listed as Gold & Swamp Green W/ White & Neon Yellow Splatter). Hope it comes out looking close to the mockup cause that looks pretty sick.

Just imagining walking into my Target and picking this off the shelf is quite funny

For real though, every variant looks great, I'll pick this up at some point but not in a rush.

Yeaaahh I'm glad I'm not a VC either. I know some that are, especially for Taylor Swift and I like sheesh. I think the only albums I even have multiples of are.....Killing the Dream and Life Long Tragedy? And the KTD are just like 3 variants each and the LLT are 2? So nothing outrageous.

the only time i have additional variants/copies is if there's a difference between the content, quality, or condition of a prior version of a release. off the top of my head, i think i only have six duplicates in my collection. two of them are records that i ended up with a higher quality copy of in a boxset, one was a replacement for a substantially warped copy that i couldn't secure a replacement for, one was a condensed version of an album that eventually got a full release (since the band was independent at the time), and one is a 7 inch boxset with a bonus track not on the standard album. variant collecting for aesthetic reasons personally seems a bit ridiculous and wasteful, but obviously people enjoy it, so it's whatever.

I will never buy one of those boxsets again. I only own two, this one and AFI's Decemberunderground. I bought both way before I even owned a turntable. UO is unopened. Will likely sell it. Just a pain in the butt getting up to switch the vinyl over and over for one album.

yeah, it's only for Loneliness for this point, although i guess i also bought it out of excitement at the time since it had been several years without new material from the band.

I stopped variant collecting Underoath when they released 17 (SEVENTEEN) vinyl variants for Voyeurist. After that I ended up selling off a tons of variants and now have so much more room on my shelves.

Now my blink collection on the other hand...

were there really 17 variants? Discogs has 11, which is definitely a lot, but i don't think a band like Underoath would Garner enough support to justify 17 variants (same can be said for 11, but still).

  17. I wish I were a variant collector because then that would mean I have money

Did y'all not just see that Knocked Loose has 16 variants? Surprised it's not more for Underoath honestly.

I tried to variant collect Coheed for a minute but then I realized I wanted to use that money to buy other records I wanted instead of multiples of the same album.

  19. Do people collect variant covers for comic issues? That seems way more affordable than, say, getting all the variants of a Taylor album

Also if, for example, a MTG card gets reprinted with new art, you could use both in your deck

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Yep, that's definitely a thing. One of my buddies collects comic variants for specific Spider-Man titles.

I only variant collect smiths stuff. But only certain things like if a single on the 12” has an extra song the 7” doesn’t have or like how soon is now has different covers depending on the country
