We’re off topic now about The Beatles news but it’s relevant for me because I’ve never listened to them and I’m planning on doing a discography run next month.

 

There should be separate subtitled screenings or something but no they shouldn’t be on for every screening. That’s dumb.

 

I like that AMC makes subtitles an option but not for every screening

 

It’s already out there. Theaters should be accessible for deaf and hard of hearing people, too.

 

I believe AMC offers some type of closed captioning device but idk how it works

There's a difference between being accessible (which they are, and I'm sure there could be a lot more accessible showings) and every showing being subtitled.

 

Probably most, if not all, theaters do.

 

Going back to music biopics. The only one I really want to Fleetwood Mac, but just about the recording sessions of Rumours.

 

Subtitles aren’t a problem for rational people.

 

Yea, one makes all showings available to everyone.

 

I use subtitles at home almost all of the time but I don’t think they should be forced on entire auditoriums seeing a movie

Seeing subtitles on the screen. Should I only be looking at the bottom of an imax screen during the entirety of dune? That seems weird to me

 

I'm with Daniel, subtitles on regular, english language movies are the worst, I hate them, AND damn it it's rational. Don't ask me how.

I too find it near impossible to watch everything on the screen when subs are on. But I am okay watching anything foreign language with them, it makes sense to use them then.

But yes I also hate the way sound is mixed these days that makes it hard to hear what characters are saying. But I'd rather fully take in the visuals and use context clues if there's a half a line I miss here or there.

 

We had a theater at my old job that had the close captioning devices if people needed them. It was this little screen on a long thin arm that hooked onto the seat. The subtitles would pop up on there and personally I thought it was annoying when I tried it because it was harder to focus on the movie and the device.

 

What’s next? People watching movies naked at the theater?! Where does it end??
