why is everyone getting so mad about muppets fury road pictures?

Why not both? There are applications of AI that are improving lives, it's just easier to get upset about stuff like this. It's a lot like the advent of the internet. Lots of great utility, lots of dumb shit.

 

AI uses up a ton of resources. It's bad.

 

It steals from humans who put actual work into things

 

Yeah, I don't particularly care for the image and media generation aspects of it, like at all.

Sorry but I’m always gona be really obnoxious about AI. It’s bad and we can’t allow it to become acceptable to use.

 

Was happy to get this trailer in front of Godzilla Minus One the other week. Title card sequence at the end of the trailer with the horns playing on theater speakers got me hype.

 

What utility are we using AI for? Why embrace stupid shit that steals from actual artists?

Images made with generative AI are a shitty part of a shitty trend. Muppets, however, are dope af.

Speech and cognitive tools based on AI help disabled people. AI Data mining helps in sectors like healthcare and energy. As a software engineer it's a useful tool as well.

It's not something that should be lightly thrown aside, nor should it be openly embraced and completely unrestricted. There are tradeoffs as with anything.

 

Nowhere did I throw it aside. The “art” and “dumb shit” stuff? Throw it in a dumpster and set it on fire.

 

Tough to put a lid on it unfortunately. Maybe this changes the way we consume art in the future. More emphasis on what's real and tangible. I don't know.

 

I think there are some options to severely reduce it though. Just because some shit people would still use it, doesn’t mean we should sit back and do nothing.

 

What in particular would you advocate?

 

I’m not going to pretend I’m an expert in any way on this. But I assure you, whatever people think of to help shut it down will decrease it and be more effective than doing nothing.
