Yeah the book is the great American novel, I love teaching it. But I’m not not going to show the movie with 2 days left in the semester post-standardized testing

 

The students really enjoy the movie too, which is pretty depressing.

When I was in high school, we watched Baz’s R+J. Teenagers in the mid 00s at a Christian school weren’t exactly the best equipped to engage with Mercutio.

 

Baz Gatsby is wild in many bad ways, but i like Leo’s performance

Romeo + Juliet would be an amazing 90 min movie, but its an exhausting 120 min movie
