The sets are apparently going to be $300 each. 1 set is from BOTW and the other is from OoT

$300 is pretty heavy looking at those pics.

Yeah they're overpriced just like the Mario sets are for their size. Part of the Nintendo tax. It will probably include sound effects like the Mario sets did though.

  6. I wish the Mario sets didn't look so dumb. I hate the super blocky figure designs they did for those.

    It should have been this:

The amount of Mario Lego I step on on a daily basis is insane

It’s amazing how bad the Lego Mario sets fucked up (besides Bowser, Question Block and Piranha plant). Why they didn’t just make actual mini figs of the characters blows my mind. Still hoping for a Yoshi build like Bowser or Piranha Plant but will take a damn minifigure at this point. They made minifigures for Winnie the Pooh, no reason they couldn’t make it work for the Mario characters.

If those leaked images are correct, I’ll sadly be passing on the Zelda sets. They’re allegedly around 2-3K in piece count so it should be at least a bit more robust than those pictures show, which look a bit small and bland, but the general consensus is a little underwhelming since it’s essentially “mostly just a tree” (although the treehouse set ironically enough is super bad ass).

Lego has some weird licensed releases coming this year: X-Men mansion (X-Men Jet that just released is a disaster because of the horrid price point), Minions, Inside Out 2 I think (or some Pixar film that is getting a sequel soon) as well as recently launching Animal Crossing sets which generally seem well received but don’t do anything for me.

I’ve built over 150 Lego sets since I was engulfed in this hobby about a year and a half ago and have seen some amazing building techniques and sets that have a lot of pieces that surprise me with their usage but 2,500 pieces to essentially build two different giant trees (assuming the colors in the image mean entirely different brick colors for each build) seems like a lot of bricks for “just” a tree (assuming 1,250 pieces per tree). Wonder what the dimensions will be with that many pieces.

Curious if any minifigures come with it but doesn’t seem like it based on the info given. And even if it did, $300 for a tree, or two different versions of a tree, is a hell of a lot of money. Probably won’t pick this up or at least will wait for a sale. I assume hardcore Zelda fans will enjoy this.

Not that you needed another reason but this is cool news.

very curious to see what the mini figs look like since Lego and Nintendo went the weird/bad route with the Mario character things that aren’t mini figs.

I’m surprised it won’t have the master sword sword since you acquire it in front of the deku tree in BotW
