Really can't get enough of this album. Even with relatively high expectations after the first couple singles, I didn't expect that.

Same. Haven’t felt this immediate connection to a Green Day album since American Idiot.

Smashing pumpkins are an incredible live act.....though this pairing would make more sense if it was an anniversary of Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream

Cannot stop coming back to this. I honestly didn't think they had another album like this in them. Happy I was wrong.

I've listened probably a good 12-15 times from front to back and here's where I'm at:

    Really great songs:

    Dilemma
    Suzie Chapstick
    Bobby Sox
    One Eyed Bastard

    Good songs:
    Goodnight Adeline
    Fancy Sauce
    American Dream
    Look Ma
    1981

    'They're fine' songs:
    Corvette Summer
    Strange Days
    Living in the 20s

    'Not sticking at all' songs:
    Coma
    Father
    Saviors

Overall, I think there could have been a really, really good 10 song album here, but there's definitely filler as is, in my opinion.

That was actually a typo. Bazoinga goes into the it’s fine category, as, despite all its faults, it’s still the great grandchild of Hitching a Ride.

The bassline in Goodnight Adeline is classic Mike Dirnt! It’s so good!

Assuming it's one-eyed bastard (badabing) and it's such a good song. Top 3 on the album for me.

The only one I don’t really like is Father. But I don’t hate it.

  16. Maybe. (I've heard the opposite) But, I'd have to like the band to want to see them, and I don't really, and I'd want to support their lead singer even a little bit to want to give them my money, which I also don't.

A few listens down now. The sequencing for much of this is really weird, feel like it doesn’t hit its stride and start flowing well until Suzie Chapstick. It’s basically just alternating faster songs with mid tempo songs and it’s clunky imo. it doesn’t help that I’m not digging most of those mid tempo songs very much.

That said, the last six songs of this are really good, and overall they sound the most energized they’ve been since 21CB

  24. Tracking under 50k. Should be in the top 10.

i also do not love the sequence of this record, but i'd struggle to sequence it better bc i think it's down to there being 2-3 types of song total

still... playing it on the daily
