As bad as that scene is, the Jeff Daniels rant at a college kid was worse because of how many people I knew who shared it unironically as an endorsement.

 

lol I didn’t know that happened. wtf that movie sounds so unhinged and bad. You had the sense they had a good movie on their hands hence why they didn’t outright cancel it. Ya know cuz the lead was a(checks notes) absolute psychopath garbage human waste…..

 

Who even watches the daily show still?

 

The Daily Show was such a cultural juggernaut when Stewart was there. The 2016 election was so close that Clinton might have won if Stewart had stayed on. Now that type of material is everywhere and has had more misses than hits.

 

Stewart's Apple show ended up showing me that delivery and presentation of the jokes definitely matters. Noah's style just wasn't a good fit for TDS.

 

Yeah I think TDS kind of became obsolete post-2016 because 1) every other late night show adopted their shtick so its impossible for them to stand out and 2) politics crossed a boundary where it became so bizarre that you couldn't be funnier than people you were trying to make fun of.

 

They should offer The Daily Show to Chapo Trap House and see what happens, lol.
