Sam was on Daniel P Carter's show last night and talked a bit about the song and where they're headed. Much like Dan earlier this year, he brings up this album's more muted reception and that, despite still being proud of it, they're also aware of what makes the band special and what the fans want. He remains vague about the direction they're taking next, but from the way he was wording his answers, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of course correction happening on their upcoming material.

Yeah, the band pretty much confirms my thoughts about them for years: they suck.

 

I've been side eyeing Dan for a while but in comparison this is so disgustingly blatant. Hope the rest of the band adresses it but I don't have much hope

 

Yeah Dan has been problematic as fuck during COVID and it’s weird it doesn’t come up more.

 

Watch this not be addressed at all, I've completely lost faith in them. With Dan in the mix too, they've made their bed. Fuck off.

They wrote a song clapping back at admittedly over-the-line criticism after changing up their sound but their guitarist gets caught out endorsing harmful right-wing ideas and it's fucking CRICKETS.

Performative in the extreme.

I find it impossible to understand how anyone in a touring band that tries to promote a safe and welcoming scene can have members who are both anti-vax and transphobic/racist. It makes both their words and songs feel so disingenuous.

 

i saw them in copenhagen on monday (trip was booked well before all of this and couldnt miss seeing spiritbox and loathe regardless)

sam had an anxiety attack on stage and started crying about 2/3rds of the way through. the vocal performance was REALLY rough up until that point and he explained that he'd been in his head throughout the whole set and struggling with similar issues since last summer. it was difficult to watch but the crowd rallied around him and he perked up for the remainder of the set.

i do have to say that loathe and spiritbox are two of the best live bands i've ever seen and i'm not sure architects would have been able to top them even if they were operating at 100%.

Yeah, that's one of the most egregious, overtly homophobic, transphobic things I've seen in a while (the MMA guy interview and the retweet). It's not even one of the more mild takes where someone is still learning and adapting and asks an insensitive question or something. It's just a straight up 'you've failed as a man / father if you have a gay son' take.
