I'd imagine they just do each album straight through. The way they flow works pretty nicely for that. And there aren't really any spots that lag or lack in hits/fan favorites on either.

I think they do American Idiot second just because of how much of a closer "Whatsername" feels like.

Curious to see how they split up the "other" songs too. I could see them doing a song or two before each album play.

 

Yeah, I think there are only three songs from AI that I haven’t seen. But there are so many Dookie songs I haven’t seen, so that is a much bigger deal for me. And at least we know we didn’t buy the tickets to end up seeing the same old setlist with some Saviors songs added in.

 

I feel like they love having songs that lead into the next song too much to not play them in order.

 

For sure. And, honestly, for Dookie there's two songs designed that way (Chump/Longview) and two others they tend to position that way during the live set still (She/Basketcase). And American Idiot has way more moments like that...

 

My guess is both albums + two new songs + Good Riddance and maybe Brain Stew.

They seem to like leading off shows with an American Idiot block so I’m almost leaning towards they start with that one.

Am I crazy to think a big benefit of playing both albums means it is highly unlikely they do Shout, King for a Day or Knowledge? I can only hope.

 

I would like them to do knowledge (if they could convince Tim and Matt to come out and play it with them). Or maybe Rancid could just play it and Billie could come out and sing it.

 

Mike specified that they're still going to play 35-45 minutes of non-Dookie or AI songs so I could see them still squeezing in 4-5 Saviors songs, Brain Stew, Minority, Hitchin' a Ride, maybe one or two more other classics and Good Riddance

 

Around 2006 or so, Rancid was sliding an OpIvy cover into some of their sets. Lars would always sing "Knowledge" so... I could see them doing that rather than have Billie come out.

I'm not sure that'd be enough time for that many songs unless there was literally no talking at all, no extended versions, etc. I was thinking 2-3 Saviors songs plus Brain Stew or Hitchin' a Ride, Minority, and Good Riddance.

I just hope they focus on quantity over "woah"-ity when deciding on the setlist...

 

If they did a joint Knowledge cover, I’d be curious to hear what it’d sound like, considering Rancid’s take and GD’s take on it are very different from one another

 

Please no covers, please no extended hey-ohs, please no Swedish songwriters

 

The more I think about it... I could see Rancid doing the OpIvy version with Lars pre-empting it with something like:

"Now, look! I know some of you know us. But I bet a bunch of you don't. Well, we're Rancid and we're from the East Bay of California. Tim's been playing shows with Billie since we were all kids back in the 80s. And Tim wrote this one song back with his old band, Operation Ivy. Green Day usually plays it so some of you probably know it... But it's Tim's again for the night since they aren't doing it!"

Or something like that. Hah.

Cheap tickets for LA shot up to $80 after yesterday’s announcement. LOL.

I’m debating if I either wanna hit up the LA show or make a little weekend getaway for the SD show. Also deciding if I’ll just stick with a “cheap” ticket, or splurge for a better seat. Dookie is a pretty important album for me, so it might be worth it to go all out for this show

Sofi > Petco Park if you’re picking cheap seats. Sofi has this huge wrap around screen thing and Petco Park’s audio is dog shit if you’re not literally on the field

Wild looking at the ticket prices and thinking how the same seat I had for Hella Mega in 2021 is now double.

About to do a few more dates of this now that I know my schedule and they confirmed album plays.

 

Tried to buy 3 rear GA tickets together in Hershey. Not available. We all bought them single. Worked fine. Haven’t seen Green Day or Pumpkins. Should be a good time.

 

Really interested to see what the Pumpkins setlist will look like. They’ve been great the last couple years at playing some rare tunes and a fairly varied set from show to show.

Assuming they’ll get 60-70mins, they could throw down an incredible tight set if they stick to the hits, something like below would be incredible.

I’ve been thinking about this too. Considering that Green Day is playing Dookie now, it would be cool for them to throw in some older, classic Siamese or Mellon Collie-era deep cuts (Hummer or Rocket would end me).
