Okay, finished Winter's Heart. I didn't think that one dragged. Great ending with the cleansing of the taint.
I have a question about Mat though. During his escape, when he finally realizes Tuon is the Daughter of the Nine Moons, he refers to the snake people as Aelfinn. Does he have this knowledge because of his previous memories? I don't remember these people having a name before and I was wondering where he learned that. I can't wait to get back to this dimension of Aelfinn or Eelfinn, that's one of my favorite parts of this series so far.

 

I haven't posted in awhile but since then I read book 10. That was so slow and nothing progressed in anyone's storyline. Seriously, what the heck. The first half of the book was everyone reacting to the cleansing of the taint from the end of book 9.
Anyways, now I'm on Knife of Dreams and loving it!!! Omg omg so many great moments, I'm so excited to keep reading. Finally.... Mat reading the letter Moiraine left and now there's a rescue mission for her! YESSSSS. I just read the chapter where Loial gets married and they're attacked by tens of thousands of trollocs, AMAZING!!! And just stopped where Lan is on his way to the blight and Nynaeve is recruiting help for him. THE GOLDEN CRANE FLIES TO TARMON GAI'DON!!!

Knife of Dreams is such a crazy return to form. Insane book.

I’ve been listening to Origins of the Wheel of Time while shoveling snow today. If you find real world mythology influencing fantasy worldbuilding, it’s great. But definitely a very “educational” read and not a world omnibus sort of read like the other encyclopedia of the world and books.

 

Finally getting around to New Spring. After spending all of 2022 reading all 14 books, I needed a break before diving back into the world for the prequel!

 

I started around the end of 2022 and I'm not done! Listening to the audiobooks while also reading is definitely speeding things up though.

 

That’s how I did em. Audio books were necessary for me

 

I did not realize what a slog 8-10 really was until now. I'm smiling like a fool with every chapter in this book! Right now I'm reading about Egwene while she's a prisoner in the tower and being a total badass by undermining everyone. I'm not even her biggest fan but she has skyrocketed on my list now! One of my favorite chapters in the series!

 

So I wasn't the only one confused by this. Found several others on reddit asking the same thing.

Having trouble putting the book down since reading that chapter. I have another thought. The consensus for best couple has to be.... Suian and Bryne, right?! I love them!!! Okay, maybe Lan and Nynaeve are still my #1 but that slow burn of Suian and Bryne was so great and real.

 

Two more to go. I couldn't stop reading after that big reveal. This was really Egwene's book. I used to find her annoying and now I'm just so proud, haha. I cried when Rand finally ruined with Tam. I've been waiting for it, although that didn't end well. I hope to see a better reconciliation in the next book.

 

Mat's friendship with Talmanes is everything. I love them soo much. Haha. There are so many parts I want to reread when I'm done with the books!

 

Hahahahahhahahahahah, I knew the second Perrin got an acorn thrown on the back of his head, that it was Mat. And what a great opening line. Love this reunion!!!

 

And now I have one more left. I feel like there's still so much left to wrap up. Still no peace with the Seanchan, they have to end up freeing damane, I hope. And the Black Tower is a whole other problem.

OMG OMG OMG

I've been reading on my phone so based on the number of chapter lefts, I thought I was almost done.

But I just started the chapter The Last Battle and I thought the page count was a mistake on my app.

Why did no one warn me?!?! Wow!!!!

 

When the book first came out, I was reading all on release day and it was like 3:30am. I told myself, "Okay, one more chapter and just finish it tomorrow." The next chapter was The Last Battle. As you might expect, I didn't sleep.

 

Haha. That's like when the last Harry Potter book came out, I started around 1am, didn't sleep, and finished it in the morning. I just remember my family went to the beach the next day so I slept once we got there.

 

I did the exact same thing at the lake that day!

jk I love that point in a book where you know you're near the end and it picks up the pace and doesn't stop and you simply have to finish that night

 

Siuan is dead! The first goner in The Last Battle. I'm so sad for her and Bryne. I hope nothing happens to Androl or Pevara, my next favorite Aes Sedai couple. I love the red and Ashaman relationship.
