I've never been on that website but my wife always tells me that the people there are the worst on the internet

 

They all get away with it including Taylor Swift but it is a jarring amount just for one person to attend their bfs football games while we need to be doing everything possible to curb co2 emissions. I don’t see anything wrong with using this example because it is absurd. But yes they all should be called out and really I think the focus should be on pushing politicians to address it because we need legislation on private jet use as long as they’re huge co2 contributors.

 

I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with Swift using a private plane (given her situation), however what's ridiculous is flying from Rio to New York, having dinner and a pap walk, then flying back to Brazil the next day for her Sao Paulo Concert.

 

I'm concerned about the amount of time your wife may be spending on that godless site

 

Taylor doesn't need to fly back home or to see bfs between shows in other countries. If she insists on using a private jet at least be "responsible" if thats even possible and limit unnecessary trips. She should be called out and shamed just like every other celeb or billionaire who does the same.

Like as individual consumers we're out here sipping paper straws and bringing our reusable bags (which I'm fine with) like we're the primary problem and celebs are using private Jets for their whims. Srsly I remember before all this discourse a celeb bragging about using a private jet to fly out for a booty call. It's not cute.

I think part of it is how she tries to maintain this persona of a humble girl who just bakes cookies and plays with her cats which yeah but still

 

Agreed, she’s definitely not completely absolved

 

Yeah there’s nothing wrong with having a private plane for safety issues which it’s obvious Taylor needs one for, but certain trips like coming home from Brazil for one day, jet setting to London and back for the Renaissance premiere in one day (even though I get that she was returning the favor after Beyonce went to the Eras premiere, flying to and from London and also stopping in Maine for customs before flying back to Kansas City is a lot in one day) and even trips to away games where she goes to the game and leaves right after are a bit much, especially since she can’t really interact with Travis at all for away games.

It’s definitely fair that we should call out everyone who uses private planes for unnecessary trips but when she was the #1 polluter last year it’s not surprising more of the focus is on her.

 

At what point is a trip unnecessary though? At the end of the day (or world, rather) it doesn’t matter why an airplane was flown or what its emissions per person was, all that matters is the total emissions.

 

I don't think she logged on there in the last 8 years

 

Rich people will do rich people things until the end of time, so unless we eat the rich, the whole, “private jets being an accountability thing,” is a lost cause.

 

Do we have to eat them? I'm not sure I'm down for that.

To the point of her being other-worldly famous, her stopping here in Maine was a legitimate, big-time local news story. News crews sent cameras to the Bangor Jetport just to get live shots or her plane on the tarmac. Restaurants were tagging her, trying to get her to come in for a meal. She never even left the plane. It's insanity.
