Also speaking of that one, VC’s soundtrack has the most bangers on it.

This is why I really wanted this to take place in the 90s or something. I wanted a huge awesome classics soundtrack because the original Vice City was untouchable with its music.

No PC for GTAVI is a hard pass for me. Not going through this BS with Rockstar again, where they release the first version for consoles, then the PC port 1.5-2yrs later. I don't play many games these days, but that company always releases games right towards the end of a console cycle, meaning the consoles they're played on struggle due to intense GPU requirements. The "next-gen" versions always perform better. I bought a PS4 just for RDR2, and it sucked playing it on that system. Didn't even finish it. Went back and played it on PC after that version was released (and got it on a holiday sale) and it was night and day difference in quality. I know it's a money grab, and they know people will buy it multiple times, but it sucks to see.

 

I think GTA VI will be fine on these consoles.

 

I think you're right. These systems are holding up much better over time than previous generations, but until i can get a used Xbox Series X (Series S is a joke) for like $150-200, I'm not gonna bite. I'll just skip it. I know I won't play any other game on the console. My PS4 collected dust until I went back and repurchased The Last Of Us to play on there.

 

I'm curious how big of an audience their PC market is because you would assume it's huge. I guess they just want to be able to double, triple and quadruple dip on sales. Do the first release on console, fix the bugs, patch it, release it second on PC, then do the DLC/game of the year edition on console and on PC, etc.

 

Yeah, it's nuts. GTAV just sold another 5 million copies last quarter, bringing the total up to 190 million copies. Mind-boggling.

I avoid online like a plague too. I just don't like online play whatsoever. Hoping this game gets some decent single-player DLC, but unlikely. GTAV's single-player was completely abandoned after release.

 

i think its going to be another tight rope walk for visual fidelity vs npc population. its been a really big problem. i mean currently gta5 on current gen consoles has poor npc density.

 

Between it being a Rockstar title + how popular GTA RP is on PC (the 24hr peak for players on Steam is about 150k)

There’s a good chance they’d be able to come close to breaking Steams record for most concurrent players on a game. Seems insane to not release it on PC. But they know people will double dip and even triple dip when we get to another set of consoles

 

I'd rather have less npc density and more gameplay

 

You can have both if the consoles can handle it

I did the first few missions in GTA V and a couple side missions and now i'm just driving around with no mission that needs to be done and zero direction lol.

Player's Log: Trails of Cold Steel.

Finished Chapter 6, and now I'm at the start of the final chapter.

I'm not really looking forward to doing what I call the Bonding Jambouree, where I save scum so I can see every character's final bonding event and get their respective achievement, but we'll see how it goes. It might not be that bad. Usually these things turn out simpler than I make them.

I'm intrigued by where this last chapter is going to go, because so far the end of Chapter 6 seemed very anticlimactic, even if I know it's a fake out. But this reminds me a little of Sky FC, where the endgame seemed very relatively small stakes for an RPG. Like, clearly things are happening, but nothing huge. But that's how Trails goes, starts small and then things escalate quickly in the next game.

Anyway, if I'm in the final chapter and tomorrow is Wednesday, then I feel confident I can make it at least to the end of the game by the weekend, and hopefully knock out my second run. Let's see if I make it!
