I’m like 8 albums into my relisten so I’ll get this finished by January

 

Our goal for our EOTY lists for transparency: Lists due December 30th. I will calculate the list that weekend, and that will give us the next week to write blurbs and then do the post on January 8th. This timeline also makes sure we’re not too stressed leading up to Christmas to get these done and gives us plenty of time to listen to albums from 2023 and get everything ready and up.

I absolutely love the end of the year for these lists...and my own. Can't wait to learn about all the great stuff I missed.

After using the Albums 2023 music forum here and already having my albums organized, I still had a hard time deciding. With help of the ranking app-thing, here's my top ten:

The new ones from Petey, Daughter, and Navy Blue are my three nominations for records I love that I feel were too slept on around here

 

I started a mid-year list back in June/July and will use that as a basis for my list. A lot of good shit came out in the second half of this year, so it will be hard to cut some albums.

 

I need to return to the Daughter album. Didn't get on with it at the time.

 

You should! I was admittedly pretty on board right away, but it took giving it a rest and returning much later in the year for it to really stick

 

Yeah it was definitely a grower for me. Didn't really like it at first other than the song "Party". Now I'm enjoying the album a lot more. I think it reminded me too much of their Life is Strange album. Even though I really enjoy that video game series, there was something about that album that I wasn't a fan of.

 

We will also only consider albums that actually, you know, came out in 2023. That should be a given, but judging by all the major publication lists so far, calendars are hard.

 

Same - that Life Is Strange record did nothing for me either. Felt like a pass to just do stuff they thought would be out of place on their records. Which, I’m glad they gave themselves that outlet. I can hear some similarities on the more synth heavy tracks for sure, but thankfully it’s more reeled in and dispersed amongst some vintage Daughter sounds

 

What if I realllllly liked an album from 2018 and TikTok likes it?!
