this band needs to get over themselves. they're just so offensively defensive and reactionary.

    Why, what'd they do now?

Based on this caption, I'm guessing this song is a clapback to people who don't like their new sound.

Hm. I guess I didn't pick up on that being what "RIP?" was referring to in the other tweet.

Still, I mean it's passive-aggressive to be sure, but... offensive? Don't really see a problem with a band being tongue-in-cheek about their detractors.

  6. I have no problem with them “clapping back” - supposed fans have said some truly vile things about them over the past few albums

The FTTWTE astronaut is dead? I hope not. I know that material isn’t for everyone but based on sales and venues they were playing, it was for a hell of a lot of people.

If they can just marry the heavier songs with the hooks of the last two records, literally nobody will be able to say no. We know they can do it between Goliath and Be Very Afraid. Just do more!

  9. Just curious about what heavy would mean for them at this point, without Tom and Josh in the picture. Curious to hear what Dan and Adam can come up with riff and songwriting wise.

Seen them this summer with Sleep Token. The energy they bring in a live setting is purely amazing and the 'new songs' sound much better and heavier live as well.

If it is them clapping back at their haters then I assume the astronaut in the artwork is representing them sarcastically putting the 'FTTWTE' and beyond sound to bed for that song.

  15. This absolutely rips. I don't know if it's a one-off or part of something bigger but I'm excited for their next phase.

this new song rips, i wish this last album had this sound, it was more or less a snoozefest.

  20. Probably just an one off as a recent interview with Dan made it seem like they'd take their time for a follow up album, but who knows

As a fan of their more melodic stuff, including the last album, I like the chorus but the verses feel a bit like they're trying too hard. It's not a bad message but the execution leaves something to be desired for me.

it's all a bit awkward though isn't it? what response do they want from their fans here?

Song is fine overall. Just think they aren't for me anymore and that's okay.
