Both centre mids sadly. But otherwise, I'm not against bringing them on second half. Why not.

On the plus side for Lens, Elye Wahi has looked brilliant in both games vs us. Wouldn’t mind having him at Arsenal tbh.

Martinelli and Ødegaard both getting hacked in a short space of time highlights just why Arteta needs to USE HIS DAMN SUBS!

Never ideal when you look at a players wikipedia, and he has a “controversies” section…

Ya, you really don't want Wahi upsetting the proverbial apple cart Arteta has going on right now. I guess you could say the same applies with Toney.

I didn't include Partey as he was integrated before his issues were known as far as I'm aware.

Jorginho coming on before the youths is depressing.

Tbf I get why. Lewis-Skelly hasn’t even made his PL debut, so it might be a bit much.

Hopefully they get some safe PL minutes whilst we have these injuries.

The handball rule in the CL is so fucked up. Frappart just called a penalty for Bayern and then took it back after VAR intervened. Looking at it with common sense, this was never ever a penalty. BUT, given how the handball rule was interpreted in the CL until now, this should have been a clear penalty. At least show some consistency in the calls...

Through to the knockouts as group winners with a game to spare. Now we can rotate against PSV and not worry.

    What a night.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

United need to beat Bayern and need Galatasaray and Copenhagen to draw

    it's so joever

I was trying to describe myself to someone

VAR has changed how it creates a fuss though. You have two new scenarios:
    - Decisions which would previously have been considered kind of marginal are pulled back and painstakingly overanalysed.
    - They pull it back and using the video tech, still get absolutely blatant, obvious calls wrong.

Previously, we'd have just accepted the first type as a kind of "well, it could have gone either way" situation. The second situation is just inexcusable and deeply irritating in a way it wasn't before, because we previously had to accept the ref only got one look, at one angle, at full speed.

That's before you get into all the stupidity with offside and handballs. They really should have re-worked the offside rule based on the tech. I actually think the PL handball guidelines are working a lot better than they were when they first brought VAR in, but the general standard of officating seems so wonky at the moment.

The real question to ask now is, given the standard of officiating this season with VAR, imagine what it would have been like without it. :|

You are absolutely right with your feeling, but I don't think VAR is solely responsible for it. The handball rule got fucked up some years before VAR was introduced. But with VAR it all just got way way worse. We now look at decisions where common sense would say in most cases that it isn't a handball but they still call it as such. In super slo-mo, everything looks intentianal, even when the balls gets kicked towards the arm from 10cm away at high speed.

But there was a time, maybe it was 15 years ago or so (I don't really have a good sense of time regarding this issue) were the handball rule was significantly more straightforward and more akin to common sense. There were still arguable decisions back then, but it was maybe once in a month or so. Today we basically have at least one highly debatable decision every matchday.
