@mescalineeyes is officially no longer the only opinion I trust in gaming.

  4. I started Thirsty Suitors and it's really interesting haha.

Also I just got a new keyboard and I really like it. Pink with white backlight, round keys, satisfying clackity sound (blue switches if that means anything to anyone). There was this weird effect it was doing with the lights but I figured out how to turn that off.

This is bullshit and Geoff knows it. The Game Awards get more cringe and laughable every year.

Apologies if this has already posted. I was literally in the middle of nowhere with terrible internet for the past few days.

Honestly, if I hadn't read it in that article, I wouldn't have known that Dave The Diver came from a large company, and I think that's because of the biases we tend to have when looking at games.

Unintentionally, I assumed Dave The Diver was an indie game because of its retro appearance and seemingly niche premise, and that's on me.

But I do wonder if that's ultimately why it's in that category: because it's hard to picture it as being a AAA game, because we tend to think of AAA games as being big budget, 3D, graphical fiestas and not something that looks like it could've been made in the 90s by LucasArts.

Player's Log: Trails of Cold Steel.

    Chapter 4 down.

It's weird seeing Gideon's story play out in this game knowing already that he died in Trails To Azure, which this game will eventually catch up with. Granted, I'm not supposed to know that was him, but...

On the Dave the diver stuff, PERSONALLY I think it's fine in the indie category. Technically, it's not an independent game but I think indie has come to mean something different. If I'm not mistaken, both Baldur's Gate and Alan Wake were made by independent studios but I don't think anyone would look at them and say they are indies.

However, I don't really think this is a big deal either way so if you feel differently, that's cool

It was pretty unique at the time I guess. Wasn’t a huge fan of the gameplay either though.

I looked up the company behind Dave the Diver. Really interesting that that game came out of there.

Anyway, based on this I wouldn’t call the game indie, but the term indie is not quite clear regardless. What makes you a major publisher in video games? Where’s the line? Obviously self-published games are indie, but that’s not where we drew the line in the past.

I think Penny is right when he says they put it there because of how it compares to a AAA (and maybe AA, in as far as that still exists) games. That’s dumb, but so is this award show.

I honestly didn’t even know people took the awards that seriously. I assumed everyone just watched for the trailer premieres

I don’t even understand why people care about that either. Trailers have become absolutely useless when it comes to guessing what a game will be like haha.

Yeah I more so meant the game announcements than the actual trailers themselves.

Nah, I love trailers, just not full CGI mumbo jumbo that has nothing to do with what I'll be playing
