My nephew wanted to watch the Rife special, so we did. Even without the domestic violence joke, it’s like baby’s first comedy special. The jokes aren’t really offensive, just really hacky. As said before, it’s very Dane Cook where it’s all personality and charisma and no comedic chops.

 

Almost turned off the power hour when they started shitting on rolling rock. I have a rolling rock tattoo.

I don’t like beer, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen somebody drink Rolling Rock

 

Never heard of Rife til the drama last couple days, couldn't get past ten minutes of the special. Someone else said mean-spirited and it feels like that's all there is to him. Most off-putting comic I've seen in awhile

 

Had more laughs than the new Steve o special though.

 

The new Mike Birbiglia special is very good

 

Would watch if I still had Netflix

I like David Cross but idk who's paying $15 to stream a single special

 

Honestly even if it was $10 I think more people would bite

 

His interview on Conan's podcast this week is fantastic too

 

Yeah watched it this weekend and enjoyed it a lot.

 

New Birbigs is solid. Just a great storyteller.

For sure. Clearly all these comedians are just signing contracts to do X amount of episodes, etc. right?

I heard Kyle on this is important say that he never expected it to last more than 45 episodes and I always thought that was a weird number to throw out unless they had a contractor for that many. Essentially a year worth of content.

 

Lost of comedian podcasts seem like a cash grab to me now, especially when they hop on the bandwagon this late in the game.

Also the mention of TII reminds me that I havent listened to a single This Is Important since September since all they're dropping lately are the live shows and its a way different vibe than their normal pod, just a bit too hectic for me in the live setting I think.
