If a me-too type event happens in the music industry it is going to be magnitudes greater than Hollywood. Layers and layers of skeletons are out there.

This is awful, I can’t believe she had to go through all of this.

It hasn't exactly been a secret how big of a piece of shit Diddy is for decades now but I didn't think it got to this extent, holy shit. That Kid Cudi detail is insane

I agree. This is why I can't stand those who listen to groups like Pink Floyd and whatnot. The anti-Semitism is intrinsic to the work. Healy thanked Kanye on "Love It If We Made It" for a reason after all.

anyway this was another stupid thing matty healy said but like many ppl on this site considered kanye a hero before the last five years and i think that’s fundamentally what matty means by “separating out the antisemitism and focusing on the self-belief”

Your comment made me go back and see why Rogers is considered an anti-Semite. Upon further investigation, it appears he is called such because of his vehement anti-zionism, which is not the same. This is a grave error on my part.

He was an ass well before going to the Trumpian White House and declaring his undying love for the Third Reich to Alex Jones. His support for Trump began during 2016.

Love It If We Made It is not antisemitic, it's not condoning Kanye, it's not pro-Trump.

Making the decision to say out loud that he respects Kanye is dumb as hell, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that Matty Healy still isn't a neo-Nazi.

As usual, I think the act of him saying this stupid shit is annoying as hell and no one needs to defend him...but I also think it's very clear that he does not mean what he is saying. I also have not been at any of the 1975 shows to see the context in which he is saying these things. From everything I've read, it appears to be a facade or commentary rather than his real beliefs.

We're still making excuses for this guy huh.

I don't think the commentary or whatever even matters at this point. Even if by some miracle he isn't a closeted right-winger, that is the public's perception of him and something that he will never be able to get rid of. This is the kind of controversy that kills most bands. I will be surprised if they ever release a 6th LP after the year they have had.

There are bands with rapists and murderers still releasing records and touring. They might not make another record, and he is a big fucking idiot, but I don't think the speeches that his band is very clearly in on/into are going to be the reason why.

They're bigger than they've ever been, even with his controversial takes and actions over the past couple of years. I don't see them not making another album after they've wrapped the cycle for this one up.

You are probably right. One thing though on your second sentence make me think. Any sane band member or label would have told Matty to cut it with the rants a long time ago, because this kind of stuff just makes everyone involved look bad. Maybe they simply do not care anymore how they are perceived and aren't concerned for the future of the group because they have decided that is it? Food for thought I guess.
