  4. Well, considering how pressed I felt for Gore-Us (despite averaging a movie a day) and in honor of the anniversary of Silent Night, Deadly Night...I reckon I can get an early start on Holiday Horror this year. I watched all of the big ones this past year -- Gremlins, Krampus, Black Christmas, Better Watch Out -- so this year, I'm focusing on less popular films and some first-time watches. If I didn't put the service next to it, it's because I own it or am catching it in theaters. Going to try to go in a general reverse-order because I want to be coziest near the holiday.

Hard not to cop one when you are and have done a recent series rewatch with a new found appreciation and fondness for them

  14. Finished The Lighthouse last night, still so good and unique. Basically The Shining in the 1800s. The performances alone make it extremely special.

Also did Christmas Bloody Christmas and liked it a lot more than I did last year. The band talk is kind of insufferable and the ending is ridiculous, but it's a gritty, neon-soaked Grindhouse Christmas slasher after my own heart.

  15. Maybe not traditional horror (and I haven't seen it), but I picked up Inland Empire from the Criterion sale today. Still learning to love, or at least like, Lynch.

I'm not sure how well Inland Empire will go down if you're not already a David Lynch fan haha.

It annoys me that the unrated version blu ray of Evil Dead 2013 is still $22.99 lol

What’s the most accessible Lynch? I’ve seen all of Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, and Mulholland Dr. I’ve heard Lost Highway is a bit more straightforward?

I’ve not yet seen it but The Straight Story is said to be his most accessible film. after that, maybe The Elephant Man

  23. As Not a Lynch Guy, I would definitely say Elephant Man, but that and The Straight Story are hardly Lynch films in a normal sense. In terms of his weirdo shit, from what I've seen, it's Blue Velvet. Lost Highway is kind of the right side of bonkers to me and Mulholland Drive is kind of the wrong side of bonkets imo. But again, still kind wrapping my head around it all.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I've never really enjoyed Blue Velvet and honestly think Inland Empire is horrible lol, but Eraserhead, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive are all iconic. the latter two have two of the scariest scenes ever put to film

that being said Twin Peaks (specifically the last season) is his magnum opus

  25. I think Eraserhead is overrated *ducks*
