I am just gonna stick with my “listen to each cover once and move on” approach. A covers release doesn’t excite me. The band can do whatever they want to. It is cool they played shows and did a lil recording. But none of the shows came near me. I don’t care about this. I was able to snag their first two albums on vinyl from all this. That’s my favorite part of it at this point.

Yeah, I love Midtown but definitely want to hear something new…it’s been nearly 20 years. If this jumpstarts the road to new tunes, awesome. If this is it, oof.

Considering this is literally called “we’re too old to write new songs…” I wouldn’t exactly be getting my hopes up for new songs lol

It's a net win, but I got a few cool songs to peruse. But WINNING, would be tons more shows and a new album!

I'm just glad I got to see them live again, never thought it'd happen especially in a state where they were happy to be doing it.

I thought that statement of theirs was kind of weird. They’re not that old and obv older musicians write new music.

So, I'm like most other people here and not too excited for this. Maybe spin it like 4 times and shelve it forever. For a band I've cherished for 2 decades and miss dearly, the reunion shows were all I needed. On the OG vinyl release of FWYK (I say OG cause it's the original pressing and not sure if the repressed have this too) there is a very heartfelt message from the guys talking about how good they felt about the album and that they could never write something as good as that again. And they were happy that 10 years later and it was getting the attention they always felt it deserved. So I get why they aren't trying to force new music and appreciate the honesty and fact that they aren't just trying to throw stuff together. They are playing here again tomorrow for first show in 6 months then who knows. I think they may start doing one NJ holiday show a year for the fans and I'm grateful for that. Maybe one day we will get a new song or two, but I'm not expecting a full album.

I’d love new music as much as anyone, but if they’re not feeling it then I totally respect that. Think this was a cool way to hear some songs I haven’t heard in a long time with a Midtown slant.

Bummer on the support, but good to see they're back again.

If you search the accountability thread, you'll likely find stories about both Piebald and Save Face.

Went to the show last night. What a blast! Living in Austin and coming back to NJ for Christmas every year, this really did feel like a jersey reunion fest lol.

Great crowd. Fun. Everyone got it and was into it.

Good mixture of songs, sounded, great. They said they're gonna try and make this a thing every year (they're gonna have to step up the support game though imo)

Piebald was fine but THEY DIDNT PLAY SIMPLE PLAN???? da fuck.

Maybe one of these years they’ll tire of playing 20 year old songs and make some new music. Glad they’re active, though.

Saw them twice last year and loved it, but sadly skipped this year. How was the turnout? They sold out both NJ shows last year. Curious if some people this year were less interested as the "reunion" thing is done. Really do hope they continue to do this and I go next year. Support was very bad this year though for sure.

Like others have said, I wasn't interested in the other bands so an hour and a half drive for an hour set just wasn't happening from my end. I'd really love to see some of the drive thru bands come together for shows and think that'd bring out a real united audience out there.

Can you imagine a Movielife, Midtown, TEN, Starting Line show?!?

They played over 20 songs. That would have been worth a 90 minute drive for me, regardless of openers. *shrug*

I don't think it was sold out, which is why when Gabe said he wanted to make this a tradition I was like ehhhhhh.... maybe a smaller intimate venue? Or you need more banger openers.

They were amazing and the 85% capacity crowd was tight!

I know starting line and taking back Sunday both do annual holiday shows, those do pretty well o think.

Here's the problem.... midtowns cult popularity isn't as big as other bands. Pop punks nostalgia cache isn't as big as emos andddd midtown is just a little too late. People were clamoring for a reunion for 20 years. They may have missed the boat

The lust is still there, but it exists outside of the same Philly/NJ shows that always happen with these bands and nobody outside of those markets wants to travel to those spots for a show this time of year.

    Yes, it's me

As much as I loved Midtown, I gotta agree with this. We have Hot Mulligan now. If Midtown wants back in, they gotta release some new music imo.

agreed, i finally got to see them last year at a club show (riot fest after show) it was them and the academy is, TAI was obviously headlining, and you could tell the majority of the crowd was there for them and not midtown, thats two generations of people there, midtown was ending as academy is was beginning,

they had a nice 45 minute set tho! Midtown Concert Setlist at Concord Music Hall, Chicago on September 17, 2022 | setlist.fm
