If you die in AW2, the backtracking to get all the collectibles is quite infuriating but the collectibles are pretty cool and very unique.

But which comes out first, Factions or Skull & Bones?

 

Yeah, just interesting to see since it’s sounded like it was pretty much put on ice in the last few weeks.

 

I know most of you know this, but the interesting thing about Skull & Bones is that it *has* to come out or Ubisoft owes a lot of money to the Singapore government.

(also from what I understood the game has to come out by 2023 or they owe the money either way, maybe they renegotiated it. either way, fascinating)

 

Someone at work said it got renegotiated for Q1 next year but if they miss it then they’re fucked lol

 

Found a random post on era that said “Ubisofts plan is to delay the game so long that the people who gave them the money and could sue will be retired by the time it comes out” lol

 

That game is gonna have a straight up magnifying glass on it whenever it comes out

These timed symbiote hive missions in SM2 are way too annoying so I’ve turned the difficulty down all of the way to get through them lol

 

So I tried Lords of the Fallen and while it made a great first impression I fell off quickly.

the traversal and exploration are interesting but the combat is just so … bland. I got to the first “real” boss and I just felt like I’m going through the motions, cycling through the usual souls like fare. Coupled with the lack of hit feedback I just didn’t really have it in me to continue.

and it’s somehow even more derivative than Lies of P, even though the umbral lamp mechanics are pretty cool I guess. I might keep playing since it could get better with more interesting weapons but it’s just a little too “been there done that” for my tastes.

Just rolled credits on Spider-Man 2. Loved it.

I definitely think it was the strongest and my favorite of the three games so far. Will be interested to see where they go from here as it’s pretty clear they laid some groundwork for a future game.

 

I hope the next game is Morbin' Time.

 

Ugh idk also having kind of a miserable time with Alan Wake 2 now. Half the time I don't really know what I am supposed to do, I don't really look forward to more of anything, especially the combat is just so... annoying, for the lack of a better word. While the story beats are interesting it doesn't really motivate me to drudge through the rest of the game.

Also these weird video-overlay-jumpscares feel cheap and also annoying.

The writing is great, the graphics are great but idk, I think I'm over it. Also I hate how overly game-y it is with a myriad of collectibles -- they take me out of the experience. So does the heavy handed tutorialization which never seems to let off as they keep introducing new mechanics.

 

Clearly I’m not into the comics because I had to look up who Cindy is lmao.

 

In regards to the collectibles in AW2. They are nothing new to series and were very much a large part of the first game. With that they being said, they are a double edged sword and although very unique and do allow for upgrades, etc, they can completely take you out of the story. Plus, as I said before, it is very infuriating if you die, you have to go back and collect them all over again.

 

Yeah AW2 is a weird one because I am loving it, but Ive also turned the difficulty down to story since the first boss fight and I basically don't engage with the combat/ survival aspects of the game at all. As far as I'm concerned, this is the optimal way to play.

I like the jump scares. I feel like this game is very good at building tension so, in that way the scares feel earned to me. There is one in a later Saga chapter that got me more than any jump scare in memory. Generally, I think thats a valid criticism of the game though.
