Show would still clock in at 90 min so it's possible.

Please say more. Do you know the other two bands? I would looooove Dying Wish on this (even though I'm seeing them on a headliner in a couple weeks).

Edit: Wait the tour package is probably on SNW. Maybe KL/Kublai Khan/Vein/Better Lovers?

My closest Green Day date is on a Wednesday during the school year and I'm interning at a school 3 hours away so probably won't be able to go. It's a bummer seeing the admat at this point for me, I am more than ready to talk about the Knocked Loose tour I might be able to go to lol.

I don’t know anything else, someone I’ve been bugging that books independently. I’ve been asking when Knocked Loose was coming through headlining cause it’s been years and he text me back like an hour ago…spring, Kublai Khan direct with two openers.

Most album play tours call it out specifically ("in full"; "in its entirety") so I'm still confused as to how/why people would assume language like the one on this poster means they'll be doing an album play but... It's pretty obvious there's a split on that so it's not even worth discussing. Nobody's changing their minds on how they perceive it upon reading (this time around, anyway; this convo might shape the way people take in posters with phrasing like this in the future).

But you did touch on two important things here that I think most everybody can agree on:

#1: It's corny marketing. Personally, I wouldn't go so far as to say its misleading but... It's still worthy of an eyeroll and a "really, dudes?"

#2: It's bullshit when bands say they're going to play an album and don't.

Fine. I'll do it. I'll buy a ticket and share the setlist with you.

A "Summer of '94 Tour" with Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid would do really well for all involved. I feel like Rise Against would look good on paper but wouldn't have the impact you'd think in terms of ticket sales.

If we're being nitpicky, Rancid didn't really "break" until late 95/early 96 but that would be a cool theme. I've said it before but for whatever reason, The Offspring and Green Day had some sort of half-joking rivalry that seems to have prevented the two from touring with each other. That being said, that tour would still appeal to a wider amount of people than Smashing Pumpkins.

    Thank you brother

also I've posted this in the Riot thread, but I have a google doc Riot "wishlist" - it's anonymous and you can literally add any band you want to in the first column, have fun

I mean I do, the pumpkins are fantastic live. I’ve seen them like 9 times and they tear it up every time. Rancid I like but older stuff and have wanted to see them on a bill where I liked other people. Linda lindas I don’t particularly care for.

They are gonna play first every night, so just show up late - problem solved

As someone who came age in the 90's and still follows new music, I do. Rancid is honestly the band I'm least excited to see out of all 4.

I know that but I always forget it because "Let's Go" was released in 1994. But still...

My take on the Green Day/Offspring thing is mostly that it just never made sense to tour together. They were arguably the same size venue/draw-wise for the better part of the 90s. And a co-headliner wouldn't have pushed them much bigger. So even if they wanted to it wouldn't have worked. And for the window of like, 2000-2003, it maybe could have worked but that's around when Pop Disaster happened... So yeah.

I definitely agree though. It would work better with the Offspring, Rise Against, or anybody even a bit "closer" sonically or aesthetically who is a bit smaller (A.F.I., Bad Religion, Social D, Gaslight). I "get it," and I'm personally stoked on it but I can also see a lot of Pumpkins fans skipping this tour because they'd rather wait to see them headline.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Not really a big Rancid fan, but Pumpkins was great when I saw them in 2019 and Linda Lindas are cool.

I'm into it. I like the Pumpkins but not enough to pay headliner prices to see them so... It's convenient. I love Rancid and I've seen them a bunch but they're always great live and know how to work a stadium/festival crowd up nicely. I don't actively like the Linda Lindas but they're fine and it's a great opportunity for them so it's whatever.

I think it'll be a bit odd in practice, and I'd definitely prefer if it were a more "punk" leaning artist in lieu of the Pumpkins but... It'll be fun and different. So no complaints here.

you cant only look at how is more popular with current music when thinking about something like this though there are many other factors to consider such as age of fanbase, amount of money that fanbase would spend, etc
