Very sad seeing Tino in that band. I'm sure he loves it but that guy was such a talented drummer and was so much more creative before.

It's pretty good. Some of the vocal melodies are a little offputting. And it gets outshined.

It starts off kinda slow, but once we get past the "here comes the winneerrrrrr" part, the rest is just nonstop really really really really good

Edit: I refuse to use the word fire as an adjective. Whoever started that stupid nonsense? God people are the worst.

Tfw Dance Gavin Dance's publicist quotes your album review in their promotional emails.

Two brief teasers of new A Lot Like Birds material if you all are interested. Basically I'd describe what I heard as if DGD made fully melodic post-hardcore that's more focused and less chaotic, with pretty much only cleans. Except of course, ALLB is the band that did it, not DGD.

I might be in the minority here, but that was incredibly discouraging.

It's not gonna be for everyone who liked the band's old stuff, but I think a lot of fans of the genre will love it. What didn't you like?

Honestly, I agree. It just doesn't seem all that interesting. One of the main reasons I liked Conversation Piece and No Place was how bizarre and unpredictable they are. This just kind of seems... boring? I guess I'll go with that. I want to end up liking it, but none of the teasers have made me excited at all.

I can see this being a common complaint from the tracks I heard because the chaotic element isn't as prominent, but they're just well-written, soaring post-hardcore songs imo. I thought Kurt would've fit them perfectly.

Maybe that's why I like this haha, I enjoy those albums... but imo the songs I heard are better-written than a lot of the Emarosa songs from, say, Relativity which weren't always very memorable as standalone tracks.

Yeah. I'm hoping I end up liking them, but I don't really know. If these teasers are indicative of the album at all, I'll probably have to stick with the Kurt era. Kinda like how I stick to the Bradley era for Emarosa.

It sounds like Somewhere In the Sierras except louder. The bustling, chaotic, brooding energy from the last two appears to be mostly gone, which is what I loved. To clarify, those clips sounded fine and I'm sure still like this album (I do love alone ftr), but this just isn't what I want from ALLB.

I'd definitely say give the album a shot at least when it releases (idk how soon it's dropping). I think it might turn off some old fans, but also win over some new fans most likely. I personally could see myself listening to the new stuff more often than the old, I often had to be in the right mood for Kurt-era ALLB because of just how dense and chaotic it is.

I get that... it definitely leans more towards the soaring, melodic side of post-hardcore and not as heavily with raw aggression and chaos. So it depends on what draws you more to the genre I guess.

they were kind of better before at chaos

will wait to hear it. when's it coming out?

Kurts dgd is my favorite but he did not shine alot of the time on allbs albums imo

Also, random, but did Matt Coate's voice remind anyone of Bert McCracken? Specifically right at the beginning of that clip before the instruments kick in. If you'd told me Bert was doing a guest spot, I'd have believed you.

I'd rank conversation piece up there with DGD's deathstar and happiness. Absolutely incredible albums, all of them.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Conversation Piece always felt kind of like a Deathstar Pt. 2 to me. I love the two ALLB albums with Kurt.

I'll definitely check out the new album, but I'm not as excited for it.
