As far as I’m concerned, as long as the members of the band had a hand in writing it then it’s a non-issue. There’s no way for us to know who wrote what unless we were in the room with them. And at that point we’d probably be given a writing credit too.

 

It’s fun writing with other people, and solo artists have that freedom to do so all the time. People think bands have to work with only the band though for some reason

Look, at this point, I dont care if Tom or Mark fully wrote the song but if someone helped him sound better for it, fuck it, Im in. I say "better" because yeah some co-writes youre like "Wat..." but I love this record so something was working.

 

It’s pretty clear how much these guys, especially Tom, benefit from working with a team of people who know what they’re talking about haha. Tom hasn’t sounded or consistently wrote this good since Untitled.

 

I would argue Lifeforms but because Ilan AND Aaron Rubin were big factors for Lifeforms and then now his writing for blink... I would kinda agree. He just needs the right people in his corner.

 

When I like a song by a band, I don’t immediately check to make sure they’re the only ones who wrote it. If it’s a good song, it’s a good song.

You think Edging is better than Cut Me Off?

Edging is just so fun. Way better songs around it but I can't fault it for just being a bop

 

Edging gets exponentially better once you see it live too!

 

This changed with iOS 17.1. Popular songs are dots, favorited songs are now stars.

 

Interesting, and it does clear up why these articles reference stars while the website had dots, so I thank you for that information.

However! The real revelation is that based on the album's Apple Music page, the songs with dots are the same ones that Kibbles said had stars, meaning they were right about the favorited songs from the very beginning!

Cut Me Off is surprisingly good, one of my favorite blink b-sides - just as good if not better than the TOYPAJ bonus tracks

 

Cut me Off and See You are doing nothing for me. I feel like they lack the emotion of the rest of the album and were recorded just to push album sales like they did.

The TOYPAJ bonus tracks are TOP blink-182 and were scrapped to make room for The Rock Show and First Date. If not, we probably would have heard the term “Tom Heavy Album” by 2001.

 

As far as I know we have no idea at what point in the recording process SEE YOU & CUT ME OFF were recorded so I'm not sure where you're coming up with the theory they were recorded specifically as bonus tracks to drive sales. More likely they didn't fit the overall vibe of the album or they thought 19 songs was too much and those two got cut.

I've also never heard this theory that the TOYPAJ bonus tracks were cut for First Date & Rock Show although it is true that First Date and Rock Show were written late in the TOYPAJ sessions after the label/management said they didn't think there was a true "blink single" on the record they heard.
