Islam and Volk is of course exciting, but it does come across like Volk is down to wing it one last time and then call it at lightweight. Islam is no slouch and is probably one of the last 3 people I would tell anyone to fight on a week’s notice.

 

also take a shot every time Volk brings up he’s fighting on 12 day notice

Really curious what the main event for this card is. It’s supposedly not this or Cannonier vs Dolidze and those are pretty big fights for a FN card.

I don’t care how good the top two fights are, the MSG card fucking SUCKS. How do you go from two unranked fighters to two title fights?!

 

I mean they probably figure that they don’t have to do much since those two fights are draws. The card also isn’t that bad. Frevola/St. Denis is an absolute banger, Dern/Andrade is a top 10 FW matchup and Diego Lopes has been super fun in his short UFC run. I’ve seen a lot worse cards lately.

Aspinall/Pavlovich is a much more intriguing fight to be anyways and I was more excited for the LHW title fight so this isn’t disappointing at all.

Just move on with the division. Make Almeida/Game for the #1 contender after Almedia destroys Lewis. Could care less about Jones/Miocic if both guys are gonna retire.

 

Scrap Jon/Stipe altogether and have Jon fight the interim champ if he wants.

 

I’ve been watching the UFC since right around TUF1 finale and off the top of my head I’d say the heavyweight division has been the senior citizen club for 90% of those years.

Tom/Pav is a better fight. And that division desperately needs it.
