As someone else said he was there but weird they never showed up on the screen. We were far back and our group wondered the same thing. Took me seeing other’s pics to know. Strange.

Anyone wanna confirm that Lil Wayne just came out during Good Charlotte?

  4. Cannot confirm, but does he even come out for his own shows?

    Any differences with blink tonight?

  8. sam_might_say

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

It’d be funny if Blink played tonight’s set with Matt instead of Tom and pretended like nothing was different and it never happened

  9. Nope. Same set it looks like.

  10. Did the venue empty out after Blink again tonight? Haha

  11. It is emptying. I'm staying for a few green day songs then will go as well. I'm beat.

Green day did shout/king for a day on day 2.

I mightve actively started booing at that point

  14. SO BUMMED I MISSED THAT! THAT'S MY FAVORITE PART OF THEIR WHOLE SET!

Had an incredible time on Sun but by the time Blink finished I was doneee.

Venue is super poorly configured but it’s just a massive concrete lot so they do the best they can. VIP experience was decent, not having food/drinks or restrooms on the green side sucked. Also, kind of shocking to see how few of those large misting tabs they had for GA, I counted maybe 3?

Good Charlotte stole the show, the energy level in that crowd for the 2nd half of their set was wild. Blink, Offspring, Sum 41 and Yellowcard sounded spot on.

Finch was second fav set, the sound was perfect and the crowd loved it. Goldfinger was fun, really big crowd in VIP. Movielife was a solid start to the day and The Veronica’s were cheesy but fun, kind of obvious some of the sounds were lip synched tho.

My only wtf, was Thirty Seconds to Mars, they didn’t sound terrible and they played mostly older songs but Kennyhoopla really failed on The Kill. The crowd behind me was super hardcore fans but everyone else seemed like they could care less. Not bad, just no one was into it really.

I skipped them, but was discussing with my wife how I planned to skip them due to hearing how bad they were live.

A girl overheard my comments and said she saw them the day before, they sounded terrible, and she regretted wasting her time on them. She said seeing them live made her less of a fan of the band. I felt quite validated.
So my wife and I brought these collapsible pop-up stools and they were a godsend. We probably sold 50 of those things from people asking us about them. We also learned from last year and had a few alcoholic drinks first, then quit drinking alcohol after that, switched to gatorade, then at like 8 pm had a ghost energy drink. Other than our feet killing us at the end of the day (my watch tracked 28k steps for the day, but that includes monorail/saraha/etc.), we felt quite solid.

I thoroughly enjoyed Fenix TX too, and they were also a bucket list band. Was going to see them in 2005(?) during their reunion tour, but it was a 2 hr drive, and I had read on absolutepunk.net that they were too drunk/nonfunctional to even play half the dates. Decided not to go, and sure enough, read the next day that they didn't play. Glad I saved the gas and the $20 or whatever tickets were at the time lol.

Wait, the lead singer wasn't there? That wasn't him?
Day 2 crowd was pretty decent for Ataris. What was the average age of the crowd for day 1?
I saw *MCS with NFG/AAR/TGUK two weeks ago, and he came out with a cane explaining that he was being treated for some really bad spine stuff. He was standing during the set, but then he said he jumped weird on the other leg and thought he broke his foot. They brought out a stool for him to sit on the rest of the show, and when I was grabbing drinks later he was in a wheelchair being pushed out of the venue. I fist-bumped him and told him they put on a great show, and he said thanks.
Another bucket list band for me. They switched some songs around on day 2 from day 1, and I was so worried they were going to cut hurricane. Instead, they closed with it. One of three songs that brought me to tears yesterday.
I couldn't believe some of the missed collab opportunities. After the Yellowcard cover of "Everywhere," how do Michelle Branch and Ryan Key not pair up somehow? And they scheduled them back-to-back to make it almost an impossibility.
I swear the day 2 crowd must have been different. I was towards the back (decided to sit for parts of The Offspring to conserve energy), but there was a full-on mosh pit with some big dudes and girls getting into the mix towards the back. Energy was super high. Not sure what it was like up front.
Ghost in particular was bad. I saw Lit there, and the guitar was inaudible for half their set. I basically burned a hole in their debut album, and I couldn't even recognize songs until the vocals kicked in. They thankfully got it worked out before the hits came in.
Last year, there was a 5th stage, and they had two pairs of stages that were on/off, then the 5th stage was a different direction. I feel like that worked better. I guess they just had more bands this year and had to overlap more? But yeah, I don't remember having those kinds of sound issues last year (though there were lots of other sound issues on a per-stage basis, like Dashboard Confessional having no vocals for half their set).

    EDIT: Fixed "MCR" to "MCS"

  18. I think this will be my last festival lol. My body is really feeling it and the experience gets worse the later in the day you get.

It's wild how irresponsible people are. It's 90 degrees and they're downing Tito's and vodka or heavy ipas. Then by 2pm they're passing out and need medical attention.

VIP was definitely worth it to me but feel like it was oversold and the split vip areas for green and pink was stupid. I originally thought it was going to be fine but they made it impossible to get out of green.

I'm curious, do you have any general physical ailments, and how old are you? I'm 38, and other than a bit of a sunburn on my face (not too bad since i was wearing a fitted cap the entire day), I honestly feel good today. That shower this morning was amazing. Feet have recovered from last night (they were the only thing really ailing me).

I'm still going to continue with festivals. I got to see three bucket list bands (Something Corporate, Fenix TX, and The Academy Is...), and a whole bunch of other bands that I enjoy. I will say that I was very happy I saw the NFG tour with MCR two weeks ago, so that relieved some of my schedule conflicts. I will agree that WWWY is too long though. 12 hours is too much. I'd be curious if they just split this into a two-day event and sell days separately how it would do. They could effectively just make it 10-hour days, and it wouldn't have nearly as many overlapping bands. Green Day could have headlined one day, blink-182 another.

One thing that's hilarious about this show due to its ridiculous size.... your feeling about the crowd and stuff can be so dramatic, like a few feet ins different direction.

My buddy got split from me at offspring and said he had a great pit....and yet i got death stares and confused looks.

50k steps baby aka 24 miles! That's a lot of circle pitting.

I personally loved the fest. I thought the infrastructure was top notch. All the food vendors were good, a ton of bar stands (didn't have a single drink, what are you insane!?) good amount of art installations, and the sponsored stuff was cool (played pop a shot at the Ghost booth while Green Day played in the background, thats like 2 of my favorite things)

Id give the fest an A. Obviously the heat is a knock. HOLY SHIT WAS IT HOT. I died after every band, and had to revive myself with shade and water after every band. I basically moshed from Fenix tx till Finch, and then I hit a wall. Couldnt muster up the strength to pit until Thrice in the evening, after the sun went down. If they moved the fest a week to Halloween and turfed the entire area I'd give it an A+

Holy shit was the lineup stacked! I always knew it was thats why I bought a tic but it was blowing my mind when I was in it.

Here's the bands I saw in full:

    Fenix tx
    Knuckle Puck
    The Movielife
    Something Corporate
    New Found Glory
    Finch
    Turnover
    Saves the Day
    Thrice
    Blink 182

I mean come on, what a killer lineup.

Bands I caught a song or two of:

    No Pressure
    Yellowcard
    Tigers Jaw
    Plain White Ts
    Relient K
    Goldfinger
    The Academy Is
    Good Charlotte
    Movements
    Say Anything
    Less than Jake
    Lit

Everyone sounded great. Every band seems invigorated; no one seemed washed up.

The sound was awesome, only issues was Stripe stage early on but it seemed to be fixed. I thought the noise bleed was minimal if you were focused on a single stage.

the only band I heard that I didn't like was the wrecks- they nearly wrecked my lunch.

This was my favorite music experience for the genre since the Drive Thru Invasion tour. It was awesome to celebrate the scene and all it encompasses with so many like minded people. This was my first time flying out to a show, and it's everything I wanted. I wanted to be a part of a town takeover. I loved emo kids being in all parts of the trip, from the airport to the strip (hehe). Emochella was a success imo, glad to be a part of it.

Also, Blink is one of thee most important bands of the last 30 years in any genre. They rule

edit: hit submit too early. Will add

edit 2: all done :) time to fly

edit 3: the bands i didnt see but wouldve if i couldve:

    Motion City Soundtrack
    Citizen
    Hot Mulligan
    Mxpx
    Sum 41
    Rise Against
    The Offspring
    Joyce Manor
    Green Day

when i tell you the fest was stacked i mean THE FEST WAS STACKED

edit 4 cuz were still boarding: chilling and watching tik tokers meticulously create content is entertaining. So much so that i forgot to check the vert ramp when i needed breaks
