Yeah if you’re just now going to give people a hard time about Steph being anti-vax, you’re three years too late at this point

 

I mean there's usually some bitterness behind posts like that and I get it because I was frustrated for a long time that this site was hostile towards Mac DeMarco but turned the other way when it came to Turnover, but you just gotta get over that shit and move on. Blasting a thread of fans about it isn't going to help your case, unfortunately

Look, as far as I'm concerned Steph isn't hurting anyone but himself by not getting vaccinated. As others have implied in this thread, there are levels to this shit but I don't think someone not getting vaccinated carries the same moral weight as someone who is abusive.

 

Look, I really don't mean to dunk on you but you've effectively insulted the intelligence and moral compass of everyone in this thread. You can't just say an argument "doesn't work for you" when what he's doing is objectively harmless to others (not to himself, get vaxxed people). I'm sorry I don't need every artist I follow to be a patron saint of morality and accountability. If you do, that's fine, but it just makes you look ignorant when you generalize a whole thread as not caring about accountability.

 

It would be one thing if it was like, The Defiant, where the whole band was actively trying to spread a harmful message about it. But only one member not wanting to get the vax doesn’t entirely turn me off of the band completely.

Does it suck? Yeah. It sucks when you don’t see eye-to-eye with someone you look up to over something like that, but like I said, I’m not gonna boycott Deftones now because Steph has a couple stupid opinions.

I have a great job. If you didn’t notice, after fifteen years of participation on these forums through two different sites I take huge breaks from this place and rarely post as much because of how different the crowd is now and because I don’t see eye to eye with most. There’s a select group of users on here who are incredibly liberal most of the time and then make passes for their favorites. I’m not upset, but I struck up a conversation point that you and your friends want to strike down and belittle because you disagree. Like children, as always.

He goes on flat earth social platforms exclusively and brings his fans there for a reason. To spread those viewpoints. Flat earthers and antivaxx people are not people I fuck with, regardless of the music they make. Listen to other artists. That used to be a pretty standard viewpoint on here. What happened?

Right; go to the far extreme. I’m looking for patron saints to make music for me. Maybe review the initial responses to my post that addressed no one directly and see why I said what I said. Stephen promoting and interviewing on platforms that are horrendous garners them more ears and fans of his that would never even know the site existed.

 

Pretty sure I was one of the first people to say fuck this guy during COVID when all this first started coming out about him. I have the same viewpoints and came back to the thread to see people making light of him still spreading those views and supporting platforms that are all about it. Incredible.

 

Yeah dude you amongst many others were upset that Steph is dumb as rocks. You can consume art and be critical of its makers. Do you want their threads closed and their band name asterisked from this point forward? What would you like to happen?

 

Anti-vax views are one thing, but I genuinely don't see the harm in him going on flat earth platforms(?) or whatever. It's genuinely just stupid. I would be shocked if he convinced a single fan that the Earth was flat.

Again, it really feels that your issue is with certain users on this site and not this band in particular. If that's the case, it just seems bizarre to pick this thread to take it out on

 

Aaron you not feeling like him giving that platform attention is bad, and diminishing how big of a following this band has, is your opinion. I’ve got one too.

My point was basically don’t let this man slide and start listing off your favorite tracks when it’s clear that he’s pedaling this shit for years now and should probably be called out for it more than he has been.

edit: I even decided to review the thread since my initial post.

I actually used a gif and was just echoing sentiments from the previous page of “fuck this dude” while adding that I think people favor him because of his band when it was even pointed out that had been posted previously and ignored, after catching up on pages worth of posts. And it was met with twitter grade responses of “get a job”, “you have a personal vendetta against us”, “he’s not doing anything bad”, “who cares”, “you’re bitter.” mind-blowing.

I have no idea what he could be mad about, he literally said he has a great job.

 

I hope he feels better about whatever it is that's bothering him, because it's really not healthy to be bottling up and pouring this level of aggression out all at once.

Like, the fact that he leaves and comes back just to perpetuate this cycle is really narcissistic and toxic behavior, and I just feel bad that he can't do this in a healthier fashion.

Guess what, I think Steph is an idiot and I’m disappointed in his vaccination beliefs, while also still loving this band’s music because it’s important to me and I realize that Steph’s beliefs and actions are not nearly as harmful as those of others who have drawn scrutiny on this website.

That's actually a bit surprising/concerning. As toxic as that might have been that user has been on the site for a while and I hope they are doing okay.

 

They played Kimdracula, Xerces and Cherry Waves at Dia De Los Deftones last night! Love the SNW attention!!

I love Cherry Waves so much. I came across a version without vocals a few years ago and the instrumentation is awesome. The layers kind of get lost in the final version but there is so much cool stuff going on.
