What happened...?

 

He tweeted some tasteless stuff after she was robbed at gunpoint. Can't remeber specifically.

 

he said the people who robbed her were his spirit animals

 

Yeah, that's not funny. Saying anyone partaking in a criminal act is your "spirit animal" is in bad taste.

 

yeah. his "apologies" were half hearted at best, he sort of missed the point of why people were irritated at him and why what he said was wrong. I haven't listened to this in full yet, im probably going to but im not expecting this to beat out LP1 by any means.

 

yikes, didn't hear or see that but yeah that just implies you don't think you did anything wrong. his initial apologies were like "i would've said this stuff if she was a man too! not misogyny!" or whatever

 

I liked this the first few times I listened before he said that shit. I'm not actively refusing to listen to it, just have no urge to return to it.

 

The Washed Up Emo podcast with Steve Lamos was pretty great. Mike is usually the one interviewed about AF so it was nice to hear an in depth interview with someone other him in the band.

 

I'm looking forward to hearing the Nate episode. It'll be interesting to hear how it feels to just be tossed into playing huge festivals and stuff all of a sudden, playing songs that he didn't write.

 

The Owen comparisons are lazy... most people compare them because of the vocals, I feel... and well obviously Kinsella plays like Kinsella because that's what he does, but it's definitely not an Owen album.

 

Instrumentation is too awesome to be an Owen album. The lyrics are also a bit less knowing.

 

This is really good

 

This album isn't getting enough attention (even though it hasn't officially been released yet and is only streaming at this point) I think this tops everything Mike has put out in a very very long time (and I'm a huge Owen fan) awesome record top 5 for sure

 

If you're looking at this objectively I think you could make the case that this is as good as or better than LP1 tbh

Not a Jimmy Eat World fan, so I don't get this reference. Can't be good I assume.

 

I think LP2 is better musically and production wise, but prefer the vocals of LP1

But anyway, ha, the joke was that that thread was engaged in a ~5 page debate about the objectivity of music

 

I have no discernible reasoning for why I'm not a fan of Jimmy Eat World. They've just never quite clicked with me is all. Their thread really had a debate about objectivity in music though? Lol. I don't know whether that's horrifying or hilarious.
